I'll have to check out Mashle but for me...I'd say my fave Shonen had to be Naruto...I've been a ninja nut since the 1990's watching the 80's TMNT back in the day..am I ninja fit? Oh...in the same way the Akimichi clan is....but I've loved ninja for literal decades so Naruto is always gonna stick with me...I'd say my second fave is Toriko just because of how bonkers the concept is.

HULKSMASH! The comedic parody elements in Mashle immediately worn off on me, and I can't honestly grasp the moral of this manga even now that it's ended. Then again, I grew up reading and watching Fist of the Northstar, Devilman, Captain Harlock, Space Runaway Idon, City Hunter, and Super Dimensional Fortress Macross just to name a few, so my storytelling standards are rather high. Especially when Raoh's last scene is the epitome of manliest self ascension bare none.

I might literally save this and send to people to explain how I feel about anime these days. I always say “it was the okay-est anime” in response to most things I watch. It’s not a diss, things are just, fine. And just like you Mob and Chainsaw man are probably the two contemporary anime’s I’ve really enjoyed because they both did things very unique. Mash’s biggest downfall is definitely that it feels like there are no consequences for him and the side characters are all one dimensional compared to one punch man where characters like genos can steal the show

We see a lot of fighting manga/anime that shows either workouts you can imitate on a realistic lvl or techniques and combos you can reenact, but I wanna see more realism in terms of advanced strategies and tactics

I feel the same way about a lot of the new shows. Not that they aren’t good it’s a lot of the same stuff. I watched avatar the last air bender for the first time, and became obsessed. Lol I’m so obsessed that I’ve read rise of kyoshi and yangchen. I’m also a fan of my hero academia, but I wish it had more world building. As a fan of both I’ve decided to write a mesh of both. Don’t know if it’s any good, but I enjoy it.

I read all of Mashle and thought it was a nice humorous story. Recently started reading Black Clover last week and omg…Mashle really took heavy heavy inspiration from the series, right down to a character with a sister complex. Still, I enjoy it. It’s kind of my junk food type of show to read.

I love Mashle. It was one of the random pickups in BAM and I've been on it since. Its really funny, I like the magic being used in quick and entertaining ways, and even the mangaka blurbs are fun to read because its letting me understand that dude be goin through it to get in that spot he's in and keep it going and I wish I could thank him directly for this.

Hulksmash! Holy heck I was born 3 yrs after you (1993 baby here) and your tastes evolved the same way mine did. I'm in the sport/slice of life anime phase. I at Ch.42 of Mashle and I do agree, Mash is the only one I generally care for (and a recent character who has an Evil Eye). My sort of issue really is that there is just one new threat after another without much breathing room to sit and enjoy the villain or other characters.

Hulksmash, I've read the first 100 chapters of Mashle weekly since its serialisation and what you said at the end is exactly how I felt at the 100th chapter, it looked cool but I could never be invested but that's just me. For me my favourites are bleach for both its aesthetics from early 2000s to now and great storytelling, black clover because I really jive with it, soul eater too, similar to bleach but with a much more crazy atmosphere, I tend to watch older stuff as of late (I'm gen z) but there's plenty of shonen I'm reading I love, I think it's how characters can grab me, sometimes I feel like the shows nowadays are much more streamlined to the point where it's more action rather than the characters behind the actions. Great video, I really enjoyed it

Waited for this vid to come out so theres a few things i want to point out 1.The humor wont change if you feel like its trying to hard to be OPM thats gonna be most of the jokes in the series 2. The fights will get much better once the Visonaries start appearing everything just gets much faster and grander. The magic gets flashier 3. Mash’s friends will have their moments to shine. They do some training on their own and each have their own battle that shows their growth

Wow, your "anime journey" seems so similar to mine in some areas, you mentioned chainsaw-man right when I was thinking that that's a new one that can really grab you:). I took advanatage of one night during which I felt so sick that I couldn't even sleep to binge read it =)))))))) Imagine feeling so awful you just wish someone could end the pain(physically speaking) while watching a manga with so many f****d up scenes. Haven't checked Mashle out yet, but I might one day. Also if anyone wants to try an underrated fighting manga I recommend Koukou Tekkenden Tough. Not my favorite, but the training arcs and the actual fights are downright amazing and the author even has interviews with real fighters at the end of each volume. Not my favorite, but it might be the best fighting manga in my opinion

I had a very similar journey through anime, started with pokemon, digimon and others that ran on the kid networks, then I got into DBZ into Naruto and Bleach. I have sort of fallen out of shonen now that my childhood/Teen series have ended, but I found Ippo last year and it awakened something I just don't find anywhere else, it is the first time I marathoned a series in a few weeks in literally over a decade. This guys gets it. I have gotten to a point where reading or binging anime or manga just doesn't feel like am enjoying myself if it doesn't grab me in the beginning. I have read the hells paradise manga 3 time and I can't even make pass the first 3 chapters. I just find it so uninteresting and this was before it even got an anime (like a year before the anime was announced )plus am not a person with limitless amount of time like when I was a kid so yeah I still enjoy them thou I just don't invest crazy amount of time in it if I doesn't grab me in its initial stages. I haven't lost time to watch anime but as I am a late 20s person, I need these continuations of anime I like/loved before to do something new in their time to get me to fall in love again or I will drop them. Currently only investing in some isekais/some highlights from each season or anything involving furries in a good way (Beastars last Season is an exception because I need to see if they can fix the pacing for that story conclusion or not) (Sacrificial Princess and King of Beasts is currently my highlight for the season due to loving what they are doing with romance for someone who is actually a beastman but feels like his genetics which makes him human like Inuyasha is something I am so vibing with as it feels like a new gen Inuyasha that isnt as awkward as Yashihime was for me). So yeah... last thing is... I CAN'T WAIT FOR BLUE LOCK SEASON 2 AND THE NAGI MOVIE, OH GOD GOD, SOMEONE HOLD ME WHILE MY BODY SCREAMS FOR MORE EGO AND SOCCER FOOTWORK HERE!!!! #HULKSMASH

I've seen some Mashle clips, looks entertaining enough, but I can't say it really grabbed me. And you might be right in thinking of it as a knockoff One Punch Man, because it checks a lot of the same boxes. OPM has shown itself to be a "safe/profitable" formula, and given the absolute glut of isekai anime in the last few years, the anime industry is really into safe/profitable.

HULK SMASH Hey I know you are busy and all of thatBUT where are you going to make that video on being on team talent isn't a deal breaker. It's been a while since you said you were making a video on it and I am just giving you a remainder of it. Also I had not idea you had watch so many anime as a kid. I personally have watched DBZ as the first anime. Fun fact the very first scene I ever saw was Frieza shishkabing krillin. That genuinely shocked me as I never thought cartoon characters could be killed. All I ever saw before this was Tom and Jerry smacking each and getting back up despite getting holes or blown up. Bruh, heck it was my first time watching gore in animation too. Since then I watched other anime as well like the og waifu Lamu (made by the author who also made ranma 1/2) ,Naruto ,one piece ,some ghibli films an old unpopular shonen called Zenki (it's free on KZbin to watch it if you are interested), etc etc Sorry for the rambling but I just wanted to say with this can you do a video about the shows you have watched throughout the years and share your opinions .I really love your TMNT massive video when you share your thoughts on that , I have watched like 5-6 times. Hulk smash. I think that a big part is that modern series are paced differently and you aren’t the target audience. People grow and change and they connect with different things at different times in your life so you have already connected with the past stories, but it’s hard to connect with the new ones. It’s completely fair and understandable. I am an adult and I still connect with these stories, but I’m still closer to their age than you are.

HULKSMASH I loved Mashle and its up my ally. For me I learned that silly/dumb comedy, action, friendship, VAs, and sound track is what I like about animes the most. Story is another good one but I am not too picky on that. So far only anime that I seen that like had all those but story/ending made it like ehh was Air Master but even then I enjoyed it. I have not seen an anime that didn't give me some kind of enjoyment from it. May not be on level of others but still was like not bad anime. So and short terms guess no anime I have seen been lower then a 5 lol. For me my favorite shonen is Major. That series is my all time favorite and will be in my top 1 and 2 slot forever. I say that since One Piece is up there with it. They alwasy alternate depending on if I am on a rewatch of major or Major 2nd has something new coming out since I love the Major series as a whole.

I read first the manga and then watchted the anime of Mashle. And in my opinion the manga delivers the jokes much better and has in general better pacing. Also a problem of the anime is that the animations are ok and when you come from CSM and Demon Slayer is looks not good in comparison. But in gernal I really like Mashle, because I think its funny, silly and light hearted.

I was expecting this since you said you were intending to watch this disaster of Harry P and OPM combo. #HULKSMASH I like Mashle, bu not as a series where I feel part of the fan base. I like it, every couple of weeks I come back to read it. While I feel the comedy is there, sometimes it feel repetitive, like the cream puffs scenes. And whenever Mash throws hands, you see in the panels that it wants to be OPM rather than being it’s own thing. Still I get laughs, and I enjoy it.

I agree. Mashes story in terms of engaging plot decreases in quality and feels extremely rushed towards the end. They just launched this new manga "MamaYuyu". Fir its first chapter, it's been the best for a while

#hulksmash I enjoy Marshall but I'm not crazy about it. It has its funny parts, I don't think eating cream puffs will actually make you that strong. Unless the protein cream puffs? Personally I don't really care about Harry Potter I think Dr strange and sorcerer's and magic uses that use their hands or voice can actually easily defeat them by destroying the wands. Marshall is kind of like how if one punch man and Harry Potter had a baby. I totally get what you say about tastes evolving. Plus not having enough time to watch all the animes that you want. I know your time is limited but one that you may want to watch while working out is record of Ragnarok if you haven't seen it yet. One thing that might interest you is that because of the strike that's going on in Hollywood, is going to be a lot less content coming out until they can straighten things out. I think Spider-Man across the spider-verse is going to be coming out on DVD and Blu-ray pretty soon. Even though most likely you already have watched it.

#HULKMASH The Problem with Mash is that there's no limit to his strength. It went from lifting heavy weights to being able to fly by moving his legs fast. There's no reason he can't run at his opponents so fast that they can't react and finish the fight with one punch.

Haven't read the manga, just finished the sub, re-watching (listening to?) the dub. Once I finish the dub, it's gonna be meh, maybe watch again in future if bored. For me that makes it about a 6 or 7/10 on my enjoyment scale. I enjoy the progression of mashle going from complete bone head to intelligent protector (in comparison) but it's not one of those series that got me invested. #Hulksmash
