We have similar tastes my friend. One of the best dwarf sculpts ever made. Well done. My favorite sculpts are the ones "at rest" so to speak. They aren't in the middle of a sword swing but are just calmly gazing across the battlefield.

That is definitely one of the best sculpts GW have ever released. For my money it does completely disprove the argument that all models should have a sense of motion to be good. There's something to be said for a sculpt of a general who is calm and focussed, and in control of the army beneath him. Or for that matter, in the moment of stillness before unleashing ridiculous violence. Weird detail to pick out specifically, but I really liked your choice of colour for the axe handle wrapping. It pops really nicely.
@MediocreHobbies11 ай бұрын
Cheers pal. I do like a little drop by colour. And yes the lack of movement didn’t take away from the model at all.

Love dwarf Old world. I hope GW to really throw open the vaults on the old sculpts. This one highlights what I loved in dwarfs, little bricks of fun. I remember someone describing them as cannonballs with arms. Keeps sounding like people are discovering the joy of these older hand sculpts. I keep thinking modern sculpts are meant to look great under macro photography but are so detailed and fiddly that theyve forgotten these are meant to be toys to played with at arms length.

It is a very iconic dwarf miniature you've painted, and it could be either a champion of a warrior regiment, a thane of some rank or a lord - a suitably multi-purpose figure which could inherit the role of many positions in a dwarf army. The colour scheme is nice, and the story of a "young" warrior (almost like a beardling...) having worked his way up the ranks in short time is just too good to avoid in a seriously strong dwarf army - a nice touch to the storyline of an army you want to go on with. Great!!
@MediocreHobbies11 ай бұрын
I agree pal. Cheers.

Did a dwarf army as one of my early commission jobs, think the guys scheme was complex which made it harder to complete. The only dwarf's I enjoyed doing was a converted Bugman and Bugman's Rangers. They were great to do. This model is fantastic and I think if I went for a dwarf force he'd be in it.

Also, quick question. Does the two thin coats paints need to be "thinned down", like GW paints? I generally always use medium thinner or a bit or water with GW paints. However, model air paints tend to be thin enough to come straight out of the dropper bottle and onto the pallet/model. Where does two thin coats rate in terms of viscosity? I mainly have Vallejo and GW paints and I'm not too keen to buy another pain line onto. However, if two thin coats is great I definitely would.

Hi there. Looking to paint my new dwarfs using a mixture of contrast and regular paints as you did on this tutorial and wanted to know what you did to prime this miniature. Did you prime in Chaos Black and then drybrush with Grey Seer? Or how did you get this effect? Thanks in advance!
@MediocreHobbies4 ай бұрын
Here's how and why I prime the way I do! Two different rattle/spray cans are used-one full solid coat of black, and a lighter coat of grey seer sprayed from above to add light/dark areas. The lighter coating of grey seer adds a small amount of grit(too small for the eye to see) from above to give the contrast paint a better surface to cling too. Contrast paints don’t work well on black primers, the colours won’t show up well. Here’s a short showing the process, if you have any other questions please let me know! kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2KrqWSridKnidksi=pqC1tehDhkaxQOwq

I love ALL Warhammer miniatures (almost) without exception. However, I want to add them for my Age of Sigmar/40k Collection, just because round/oval bases are better, I don't like angular ones decades ago or today. What’s especially funny: as a rule, larger round bases give more fresh air to the model, while larger square ones, on the contrary, distract even more.
