Damn! That turned out nice. I’ve got a bunch of old York standard bars, in various lengths, with a patina of rust on them. I will try this little trick.

I literally just wrapped mine last night! I was going to leave it sit for a few days but, then again, mine is almost black so I may still do that. Since I bought it I have been wondering what color it was actually supposed to be under all the build up... now I know. Great video! Thanks man

That came out great..I'm trying to buy a vintage York olympic bar right now. What year is this bar? I'm looking to buy a 60's or 70"s bar ,but I don't know how to tell what year the bar from?? Anyone? Is there a book you can buy on vintage weights?

There is a Facebook group I am in called "vintage York barbell owners" the people there know their stuff if you have questions on dates on bars or plates or others

Another way is using a PVC pipe. And filling it up with rust remover.
