2:59 We need a remake from this game!
@OldAndNewVideoGamesАй бұрын
Well... Not a remake really, but in one of my "Exclusive Amiga Games" videos I cover a little title called "Tyran". It's a Polish take on the Moonstone formula, like literally copying most of it, and it's quite interesting game to experience. I mean, I wouldn't recommend making yourself play it for too long, as it's not great, but to see what people tried to do after "real" Moonstone, it's sure something. :)

Princess Maker 2 enjoyed the highest popularity probably in Korea, compared to even in Japan due to it being a PC game. This was one of the few games that the parents weren't opposed to and considered educational. On top of that, the Korean DOS version had all clothing images saved in one single file, and one could run the game perfectly fine without it, the only effect being the costume layer not appearing in the game. You know what I mean. And no, you can't do it if your copy is (or is based on) the Japanese version, which had a different file structure.
@OldAndNewVideoGamesАй бұрын
I wish I knew of it before, it would be an interesting anecdote for the video. :) Still, thanks for sharing, it may come in handy one of those days anyway. And even if it wont, it's still fun.
@BurstingVeins1Ай бұрын
You're not kidding that Woodruff and schnibble is a forgotten game. I've never heard or seen it before and it's not in any huge old game/DOS abandonware compendium that I've found. At least I still managed to find it, and I'm looking forward to playing it. I love the Gobliiins art style games.
@OldAndNewVideoGamesАй бұрын
If you liked the Gobliiins, Woodruff will be something you'll love too! It's like bigger and longer Gobliiins.

Popcap were the masters of genuinely fun casual games - Peggle, Bejewelled, Heavy Weapon, Feeding Frenzy and then they were acquired by EA...

Yup, and then EA milked the games for as long as they could running them in the process into ground. xD

I seem to remember the story behind Princess Maker 2's English translation being pretty sad. I also seem to remember the two(?) guys who wanted to port the game over giving the dev CD back to the original creator saying they did not raise their daughter well or something to that effect. That said, I played -so much- of it after grabbing it off some skeevy website or other back in the late 90s, hahah. Adore the theme in the main game screen.
@OldAndNewVideoGamesАй бұрын
It's a fun game, no doubt about that. Unlike western games in most aspects of it, but very fun nonetheless. :)

Princess maker seems a lot like the flash game my pet protector. In the premicse. In my pet protector you train an adventurer into as good of a fighter as you can, until the age becomes too much. So yea differences there. Age is from teenager to an elder. And the goal is to defeat some generic big evil. The way you accomplish it is by taking lessons, getting equipment, and, unlike a princess, goin dungeon crawling. Can't remember much else. I mostly played the more roleplaying focused games in the series. But. Yea it's good if you like the princess maker. Very similar feel.

Let's ctrl-alt-delete together! XD That should be the slogan of a kid's 90s TV show about computers, right before they enter the virtual world by means of green screen technology. :) Oh, and I just can't find a game that wouldn't be improved by dragon(s). Nor a reason not to give this video a bacon like. 🥓 I recognised Moonstone in your cover image poll. ;) Princess Maker is controversial for me. Give the girl some freedom! :D Machinarium is actually on my list from many years ago. It feels similar to Neverhood in storytelling and puzzliness. I guess I'm one of the people who like Machinarium's art style. :) Oh, my! Twist my Jewels? That sounds painful. XD I see it available on Amazon for free. ;)
@OldAndNewVideoGamesАй бұрын
Did you know that the best bacon does not come from pigs? It's actually dragon bacon. A very expensive, and rare kind of meat that only the richest can afford. Never had it myself, but I once managed to catch a whiff of it coming from somewhere, so at least once I was in a smell-distance from a royalty. xD Machinarium looks like art! A moving art no less. :) Is Twist on Amazon still? Oh man... These are the moments that I wish that I still had Android. xD
@TeaAndFloppyDisksАй бұрын
@OldAndNewVideoGames Dragon bacon? Where did you smell that? How did it smell like? I like the cute clunky robot aesthetic. :D You know, I've heard someone (I'm not naming names ;) ) say that emulators are a great way to play all kinds of stuff on your PC. So you can emulate an Android if you don't have one. :)
