I took your advice about looking in all areas. Today I was looking through the Christmas department and found a beautiful brass triple french horn candle holder with a holly sprig on it. Sprig came off and I had my prize for $3.99.

People used to put sweetened condensed milk in their coffee. That must have been a long time ago, because I have never known anyone to do that except for my in-laws, who are from Spain. It's still a thing over there.

My grandmother put evaporated milk in her coffee. I do once in a while and it is delicious. Condensed milk for baking and desserts, yummy.

The pair of floral lamps was *fantastic!* The fact there were two would have made me buy them. 11:28 And I'm strangely undisturbed by the teacup/saucer conversion into a night light. I think it was charming. It would be sweet tucked into a dark corner of a vintage kitchen, or maybe placed on the kitchen table. But the framed picture of the outdoor scene got my attention. I hope you put it into your eBay store, because I'd definitely bid on that!

I was gifted an antique solid wood 5 tier stackable bookcase with fold up style glass front on each tier when an old acquaintance moved out of state. I love it and have not seen another one in my area since. That old furniture was built to last .

Remodeling the kitchen of our 2 story 1850s kitchen. Blue walls and white distressed cabinets. I am having blue glass backslash put in. Exact same color that was on that piece of furniture. 😊

So glad you picked up the oak shelf! It's beautiful. I have a lawyer's bookcase-5 glass front sections that stack but, not with a top like you found. I have never seen a vanity with the glass tile decoration and never knew there was a holder for condensed milk! Thanks for taking the time to stop and show us!

Beautiful landscape. I'm glad the foxing didn't discourage you. The old Kirby was missing its business end, the brush bar assembly, but even without it the aesthetics of its design are still so apparent and you stopped for a moment to admire it. I loved that. You can still pick up old Kirby parts for a song and honestly a Kirby will last you a lifetime. My friend bought me one of those popular new brands of vacuum cleaners, thinking it would be easier to use because of its light weight but I still haul out the old Kirby.

I always mix up condensed and evaporated milk. Yesterday after seeing your haul, I put some autumn decor on my mantle. Well today Maxwell has already knocked a couple figurines over/ off. Fortunately they’re just resin. I use museum putty for the breakables.

Sorry about your allergies. I sympathize. It’s always a pleasure going thrifting with you in the land of plenty. I laughed with you about the kitty print. Can’t tell you how many times my Milly jumped up on the side table, looked at me, took her paw and swipe! She knocked whatever was on the table off onto the floor just like a toddler clears the high chair tray. LOL 😂❤ Yep, I too confuse evaporated and condensed milk. I must check my recipe twice! Sheesh! Who’s the idiot who ruined that depression glass tea cup and saucer. You’re a lot more tolerant than I. *sigh*

My love affair with that burgundy forties lamp has deepened. I've found that with the right shade, you can mix them with all kinds of interiors. And I love that EAPG handled fruit compote. That would be lovely as a Thanksgiving center piece with fruit and nuts and such. I love that oak shelf top, I'm in constant need of places to put books, and I'd make good use of that. That was quick, but fun. Hmm, that sounds a bit iffy, but thanks!

I have the top of a bookcase that my great grandfather made. The rest of the bookcase was much flimsier and fell apart. Someday I will make a bookcase and use his top for it.

Grandma called evaporated milk Pet milk and sweetened condensed milk Magnolia milk (brand names).

I don’t hear you mentioning the awaiting ‘cart vultures’ anymore. Maybe, there are other places for them to roost now. I gave up looking for vintage T-shirts at the Goodwill. I figured the good ones never made it our of the back room. Even my St. Vincent de Paul store model has changed. Most donations never make it to the sales floor. They are boxed up by the workers and trucked off by volunteer drivers to other areas. I have noticed over the last 2 years the entire thrifting store frenzy has changed. I am no longer a part of the reselling community to get the scoop. I can not even find an auction house to handle my estate treasures because I sold my property awhile back. They want real estate, not things. A 50 year collection doesn’t even raise an interest. I offered local history and that didn’t even get their mojo going. I’ll throw my valuables in a rented dumpster before I’ll donate them. Peace and my rant.

Golly I’m sorry it’s come to that for you. There are still folks like me who value your collections. You’ve preserved history and I thank you. I hope you can find a kindred spirit to take custody of your treasures when the time comes.
