Saw your comments about the inside curve of the hammer not precisely following the frame's hammer slot. I recall reading some years ago that original Colts were constructed in a similar fashion to your gun. I surmise the purpose was for clearance should any expended cap land there. If that happens, the hammer can't move far enough forward to re-set the bolt, hence tying up the action. Most of my reproduction Colts show a witness mark on the inside curve of the hammer where it contacts the frame right where the arbor is. I have clearanced some of these hammers using a Dremel sanding drum to something similar to your example.

I really prefer the treso cones over the slixshot. I have found that the treso's fit a #11 cci better. And great video, as always! You are definitely one of my top 3 favorite channels. Always get excited when I see you posted something.

I call those right hand bullet hits off the target plate " WOODY WOOD PECKER " SHOTS !! .. Named after my know it all son in-law. I had taken out a new tarket stand I gust built that held six paper targets so as to limit the amount of times I had to walk down range to change targets. I set it up and walked back to the shooting table. My son in-law had loaded up 30 22lr rounds in a magazine and slapped it in a 22cal AR-15 look a-like, and being a know-it-all started blasting away. MY GUN ..MY AMMO! I turned to see what target he was shooting at I saw my new target board fall down on it's right side. I asked him what happened and he said he aimed at the top right target and the last shot tipped the target board stand over. We walked back over to the target stand and found out he had shot to peaces the two right target board legs and frame. The new target board was useless and needed it to be rebuilt. So his new name was Woody Wood Pecker after that. I made it quite none he was not to touch any of my guns and ammo without first asking first. And to make it worse he used my hard to fine 22lr ammo used only for my target pistol! I guess he has wondered why I haven't asked him to go out target shooting again! And what also hurt was he never hit the plate! I had to rebuild the whole right side and two new right legs. Anyone out there need a son in-law !??, He's free!!!

Take it easy on him. It’s the place of sons to not listen and the place of fathers to shake their damn heads while they learn the hard way.

Try to be there with a hand to help them up when they fall/fail. Will build trust, a bond, and respect a-lot faster. Mistakes come and go, but what you say when that happens will stick.

Love your videos. Have you ever tried stiff fiber wads rather than felt wads. The felt wads can wrap around the ball and cause inconsistency. Take care and stay warm!

No I have not tried fiber wads. I have shot with many folks who do not use wads at all, they load directly on top of the powder, then lube over the projectile, and still shoot inconsistency. I have found some felt wads on the backside of the target even after hitting the point of aim. Thank you for your comment.

Good vid. I have a Pietta 1861 copy that I like a lot. It shoots pretty much to point of aim which is nice. The Pietta's have about an extra inch of barrel past the loading lever catch which is not really correct but it doesn't really bother me. The fact that the sights are regulated (I use Pyrodex P and wonder wads) is more important to me as I'm more of a shooter than historian. The Uberti's have the shorter barrel if that matters to you.
