We bought 2 of these. Mini Mags had an 8% failure to fire rate. Took the failed rounds and tried them in 2 other pistols. Still would not fire. Seems CCI has some quality issues. People debate this endlessly. I'm pretty sure that most thugs would break off an attack after being hit with just one 22lr. My thought on this is a gun comes out of nowhere, bang, pain in the chest. Now, what goes through their mind? "What caliber was that?" "That wasn't too bad, I'll just walk it off." "Did you just shoot me with a 22?". I doubt it. Most likely "oh $(-)!'!' I've been shot!" And "I better get out of here because I'm sure there's more where that came from". Those that don't get the message at that point probably wouldn't, even being hit with a 45acp. You'd need something serious like a 44 mag or a cns hit to get their attention. My only problem with a 22 for personal defense is the reliability issues.
@normr31054 жыл бұрын

My LCPII is a .380 and runs like a champ, great EDC for a senior citizen. My only concern for their .22 model is the big IF consistent w/rim fire ammo, failure to fire. Even w/CCI IF that happens you’ll have to rack the slide during an attack and you may not be able to do that (I’ve survived three deadly force incidents). I’d only recommend this for someone who could not handle the recoil of a center fire weapon. Great info packed review.

Per Captain Obvious: While a .22LR is not the first choice for self-defense, no one (and I do mean no one) wants to get shot with a .22LR. I really like mine for plinking. I could never use it as my EDC because the safety shouldn't be there. Also, the magazine disconnect on rare occasions prevents me from pulling the trigger without smacking the magazine and that just can't happen on an EDC. The light rack and 10 round capacity is great. It also shoots everything I have tried in it. I love the trigger pull on the LCP2. I will continue to EDC my LCP1 380. Mine had me pulling my hair out for a couple months. it would have some kind of failure on every mag. Long story short it was the extractor spring. on mine the extractor would not grab the round at all. if it did cycle it was blowback kicking the round out. I used a bit of Testors "Flourescent Orange" I got @ Michaels...but other stores (Hobby Lobby?) likely have it also. However, what I REALLY wanted to carry in this gun was Federal Punch -- only works about 80% of the time (probably due to the longer case and FN), not at all reliable enough so Punch is out for CARRY ammo. Slow Fire, that is: If I shoot them as fast as I can, they ALL cycle properly, just won't do so with slower/aimed fire. Weird. Anyway, will just depend on Mini Mags (high-velocity 40gr solids). But it does seem to shoot other ammo I've tried w/o issue also: Remington Golden Bullets (40gr RN), Federal Black Pack (36gr HPs, which MAY be identical to CCI's 36gr HP Mini-Mags). -- BR

All weak strikes but no fire. I took some and rechambered and they then fired on the 2nd try. Brands were: federal hunter match, federal bulk ammo, remmington bulk ammo, cci mini mag, cci standard velocity, browning bulk (most offensive), and eley club because it was on hand. I expect to break in a pistol but my confidence in dependability is waning this time. Are other people’s results better? Accuracy is nice considering Also, I tried single handed and double to eleminate grip issues for blowback varience. All the ammo on hand is new and fires reliably in other firearms I use

Then later found out it isnt reliable. The barrel crown, slide, and other parts still have machining burrs on them. They are bad enough to catch cotton fibers from a wipe down. @Vaille323 жыл бұрын
The barrel is 2.75.” Stingers are 36 grain. The extra powder they would use doesn’t burn; it blows out the muzzle. The net result is a lighter slug powered by an average amount of fuel. Stingers are no good w/ this gun; the barrel is simply too short. Stingers are truly intended for rifles, where all the powder will burn. I do have them in my Walther P22, however. The barrel is ~4.5” and I have a compressor on it.

My choice is Aguila super extra high velocity 40 grain round nose.

Only light strikes ive had is with winchester super x. Most others shoot just fine. The aquilla is a bit dirty. If your having trouble make sure you clean that extractor thoroughly. If its still not feeding well try a aftermarket spring under the extractor. Mine had issues before this otherwise its been good

Ruger is better to improve the take down system on this gun. The ridiculous, difficult, and long outdated, take down pin that they use on this otherwise well thought out gun, is unacceptable for the modern pistol. The best and easy takedowns are on Beretta 92fs, on Glock, on Sig Sauer 226, etc. Also, if they would use firing pin in the form of the round hammer head, instead of the flat blade, they would improve the chances of ignition of the rimfire ammunition, as well as the longevity of the firing pin.

I don't care for the magazine and other new saftey. However since I won't carry a rimfire for protection, it's not a deal breaker.

I have had my LCP II 22lr for about a little over a year, fired about 250-300 CCI mini mags through it and it broke. I couldn't pull the trigger., it was like it never reset. Sent it back to Ruger, got it back in less than ten days. They said the trigger bar was replaced. I fired it yesterday (total rounds since I got it back was about 250 -300) and, IT BROKE AGAIN. Same issue, trigger felt like it never reset. Anyone else have these issues? I think Ruger is more intent on getting guns out the door rather than making quality guns. It wasn't like this when Bill Ruger was alive.

I've sold many of these in past couple of years and I have yet to get even one back for repairs. The only complaints I've ever heard of from customers is that it can be picky on ammo which can be a problem at this time due to the difficulties in getting particular brands. There's plenty of cheap stuff out there, but the quality ammo can be hard to find. Others have told me that it fires anything they put in it. Regardless, as far as anything breaking - not one complaint or return. It's odd that you got two bad parts in a row, but unfortunately, it sounds like you might have just gotten very unlucky this time around. I don't know how you treat guns that have failed, but once a gun lets me down in practice, I find it very difficult to regain that trust especially if it's intended to be a carry gun. I have lots of fun plinking guns but I would never carry them. I know this is going to hurt some feelings but I had a Glock jam up on me in a firefight while in Iraq and even though I still like them and have many different models, I don't carry one, nor will I ever. That one incident left a very bad taste. Still a great gun, but you might say I've 'lost that loving feeling." Hope you get that back with your Ruger. I think it's a very good gun and would have no problem carrying one should the need arise for a very small pocket gun.

If I was going to carry such a small gun it would be a Kel-Tec p32 . It is bit smaller and definitely more lethal with very little recoil and cheaper!!!
