Their are some easily concealable 9mm with light recoil if that's your thing like the ec9s. 22s are nice until you get that one guy who goes into fight mode. The name of the game is to incompasinate. 10 seconds is a long time in a self defense scenario to wait for someone to fall over. Adrenaline is a hell of a drug. Ruger even says 22 is not meant for self defense
@nwchamp3214 жыл бұрын
@@vesical7952 Although you make a good point, self-defense doesn't always mean to incapacitated or terminate the aggressor. But to create a break in contact. 22lr with good shot placement is able to accomplish this goal. If pepper spray mace is able to accomplish this and many people carry mace for self-defense. Why are people hesitate to carry a 22lr for self-defense? With good ammo (CCI mini mags), they are very reliable. But carry what you feel more comfortable with. God bless and stay safe and healthy.

There is a really neat study on lethality and caliber. 22lr actually had the same lethality in a self defense situation as i think 357. Nice video sir! I bought one last month and love it, I have 700 rounds through it and not a single issue. Had it out with the wife and she liked it so much I had to go get her one for a backup carry, 300 rounds through hers and no issues there either. Like was said in the video, it is strangely nice feeling in the hands for the size of it and a fun little .22 plinker. This pistol may have just put my Ruger SR22 on the chopping block.

I want to get that Ruger 22 long rifle pistol because it's very reliable and you just got to have good aim against an attacker if you want to use it for self-defense which is no problem for me., and thank you for your charitable work

Hi I live in Wales 🏴 70, housebound love guns so have a collection of airsoft gas pistols. I just read an article from someone in Detroit who had been working out in his local park at one o’clock in the morning and as he was walking home he saw a kid pedalling like crazy and then saw a large pit bull chasing him. Realising it wasn’t going to catch the kid the dog changed direction and came at the storyteller. As he was in shorts he was carrying a Ruger just like the one you have been demonstrating and fortunately it was racked and the safety was off. He shot at the dog expecting to have to use the full clip but his first bullet hit it in the neck and that was enough for it and it turned around and ran away! His lucky night I guess. Keep up the good work I enjoy your enjoyment 🎉

I will not lie. I purchased this pistol for a secondary self defense pistol. Right now ammo is scarce and I’ve got plenty of .22. I’m confident that if this is all I had, I can stop a bad guy. However, this is certainly not all I have nor a 1st resort.

I love the reviews you do on ccw pistols, but I have a wife that carries a 21A bobcat with the new federal punch self defense ammo. She is an older lady that has arthritis. She can't fire a larger pistol or begin to rack one. She's very good at hitting an 8 inch plate at 7 yds with the bobcat. The new ammo has never failed to go bang everytime. The ammo out of that gun is very effective at meeting FBI standards in ballistics gel. 9mm is great if you can carry it, but a little lady and a 22lr is still better than a big stick that she can't carry in her purse. Wish you could run a few rounds of the punch fast burn short barrel ammo out of a little 22lr lcp 2 into ballistics gel to see just how effective it is for older people. Thanks for channel as I enjoy watching, Tom

A 22 with the right ammo will do a lot more damage than people think. I personally carry a S&W shield 9mm. I love a 22 honestly it's what I started with and got good at shooting on as a kid.

It comes with a pocket holster so I think Ruger is sort of hinting at concealed carry. Not a bad option for the recoil sensitive.

My wife purchased bothe the 22 and the 380. She carries the 380 for self defense and uses the 22 for training, being that both guns are very similar in size and cost of ammo. I really enjoy ur vids with all of the info available and break down. Thanx

My wife has the LCPII in the .380, so it seems like this would be a great gun just to practice with. She can do a lot of shooting without having the recoil of the little 380 and get used to handling the same size and style of gun.
@martyh47773 жыл бұрын
With the little recoil the LCP 2 22lr has, one can much easier hit sensitive spots on an attacker and add several more rounds in the same location to stop the attacker if needed. So, I feel the 22lr can be an effective self-defense option for the less experienced shooter.
@357Addict4 жыл бұрын
The manual safety is easy to sweep forward to turn to fire and harder to move from fire to safe mode. Also it comes with a mag loader that is not on the table. The mag loader helps a lot.

I was an early adopter of the LCP 2 22lr bought one the first week they were available. Absolutely love it! Is my pocket gun for small pest around the farm. Mainly rattle snakes. Is very accurate for the job! Also as a bonus it’s a really fun plinker that weighs nothing and fits in any kind of clothing pocket.

@hyperfocal20024 жыл бұрын
The most effective use of this in self defense is the deterrent stop. AKA, the bad guy sees you have a gun and rethinks his life choices. Which is pretty common. Apart from that, learning to accurately shoot a pocket pistol can be pretty hard and having a .22 to train with is a great thing.
@chrisgreer48854 жыл бұрын
Problem with that is that it's easier to learn to control recoil if you use a larger caliber. I only say this from experience. I started with a .45 acp after trying to actually use a 9mm as my starter.

You shouldn't be pulling your pistol, nor advertising or brandishing your concealed carry pistol. You only pull it to serve the target when the assailant is going to hurt or kill you or someone else or already has a weapon and is approaching and verbally threatening.

This is a great backup gun, and I can carry it in my pocket if i'm not walking very far and dont feel like wearing a larger EDC. I can even use it with sweat pants with the right holster. I just bought this little 22, i'm happy with it. Fast and easy follow up shots, much better than a 380. In a self-defense sit, i probably would keep shooting until the threat stops.

When these first came out I was wondering what the point was, but the truth is there are a lot of folks out there who have physical limitations or else are extremely recoil-shy. I think Ruger recognizes that and feels that a .22 in the pocket beats the .380 version that someone sold off because they didn't like the recoil. My only advice is to stick to using .22 ammo that will actually go off, like Mini-Mags or Stingers. Bulk ammo is not good for defense as the dud rate is often very high.

I am a 29 year retired LEO from hostile ground out west. When in doubt and out n about I still carry my duty Glock 34 with me everywhere. But, I have come to love and trust my little EDC .22 LCP in my back pocket at all times. When out on our property in Kentucky it gives me a firearm option without carrying the bigger guns all the time. I have found with QUALITY ammo (CCI Stinger being its favorite) it is reliable and accurate. Many will dispel the value of the .22 for defense, but in my 29 career I have seen many people killed with a .22lr... shot placement is everything, but having a gun you will actually be carrying when one it needed is non negotiable.

One thing to note about using this as a carry gun: it's LIGHT. 11.2 oz (317.5 g). And the .22 ammo is going to be lighter than most other rounds so the round itself, comparatively, contributes to the lightness. I bought mine to clip on quickly for zero-dark-thirty runs. Even my sub compact 9mms are MUCH heavier and more annoying to run with concealed. (Also, it's quite loud which indeed has an impact of its own, particularly in civilian use situations.)

Years ago in my healthy days I got all over Priest Lake near Nashville in my inflatable boat using a trolling motor for an outboard. One thing concerned me: the possibility of meeting cottonmouths in and around the tree roots on the many islands I landed on and explored. I understand they can be ugly when disturbed. This would have been great to carry along in a plastic bag loaded with CCI shotshells. At the time I carried my Ruger Bearcat (no WAY was I toting my Mk.II) and hated the idea of getting it wet if I ever had to use it (happily I didn't), the only negative. I think this is an elegant little lightweight niche gun for similar situations but I'll echo other comments saying the one thing that would improve it and make it _perfect_ for the task would be chambering it in .22 Magnum.
@jonsmallwood16574 жыл бұрын
Glenn Horowitz definitely agree 22 magnum. I carried my LCP 380 on priest lake for the same reason, those cottonmouths can be vicious.

I know it’s late, but the LCP II chambered in 22LR comes with a loader for the magazines. Doesn’t work the best, but it’s better than nothing. It could use to go up the casing a little more when you push the round down, as it makes the round point up a little; I just tilt the loader a bit to fix that.
