In this video, we take a deep dive into the groundbreaking discovery of what might be the world’s oldest calendar, found at Göbekli Tepe, a 12,000-year-old archaeological site in southern Turkey. Göbekli Tepe, known as the world’s first temple, has mystified researchers with its massive stone pillars and intricate carvings. But now, new research suggests that these carvings may represent a sophisticated lunisolar calendar, dating back to around 10,000 BCE. This would make the calendar significantly older than the previously known oldest calendar found in Warren Field, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, dated to 8,000 BCE. The Scottish calendar, with its twelve pits and arc, was thought to be the oldest known timekeeping system until this new revelation at Göbekli Tepe.
The people of Göbekli Tepe were not just early settlers but sophisticated sky-watchers, recording both lunar and solar cycles. Their intricate system of intercalation, which adds days to keep the calendar in sync with the solar year, was thought to have emerged much later in human history. This discovery sheds new light on ancient timekeeping and astronomical knowledge, suggesting that humans were capable of tracking celestial events thousands of years before the invention of writing or the rise of agriculture.
Beyond its importance as a calendar, the Göbekli Tepe carvings may also commemorate a catastrophic comet strike that occurred nearly 13,000 years ago. This event, known as the Younger Dryas impact, is believed to have triggered a mini ice age and had far-reaching effects on the development of human societies. The detailed carvings on one of the pillars at Göbekli Tepe appear to depict this cosmic event, linking early religious or cultural practices to astronomical observations.
The implications of this discovery are profound, challenging our understanding of prehistoric human capabilities. It pushes back the timeline of when humans first developed complex knowledge of the cosmos, predating even the work of ancient astronomers like Hipparchus by thousands of years. The advanced understanding of the precession of the equinoxes, recorded in the Göbekli Tepe calendar, offers a glimpse into the intellectual achievements of a society that existed before the dawn of written language.
This discovery not only shifts our understanding of early civilizations but also offers a fresh perspective on how astronomical knowledge may have influenced the birth of settled societies. As we continue to unravel the mysteries of Göbekli Tepe, this site stands as a testament to the incredible ingenuity and curiosity of our ancient ancestors.

The WEF (World Economic Forum) wants the rest of this area to not be unearthed. Who the heck are they to decide what gets unearthed and when?

Why has the World Economic Forum closed down Gobekli Tepe and surrounding sites to any and all further excavation and study!?! What does the WEF have anything to do with archeology!?!?! What have they found there that has them scared shitless!?!?!?!

It's not just Gobekli Tepe either. Whenever powerful international conglomerates step-in or individual countries lock things down under military sanction it's always suspect AF. Doesn't mean it's necessarily anything sci-fi fantastical like a "stargate" or "crashed alien ship" lol a lot of people tend to assume people think it's that and dismiss it all as very silly. It's more to do with narrative stuff that very heavily undermines established models in different fields.

Excavation destroys much of the area you mean to study. Preserve as much as in situ as possible. Archaeologists usually work in seasons. They don’t excavate round the clock.

Adam's Calendar in Mpumalanga, South Africa is estimated to be 75,000 years old, putting it very, very far before Gobekli Tepe but still part of the lost antediluvian civilization. I'm sure somewhere on the internet there is still a video of Randal Carlson giving a lecture about catastrophism and the possibilities for advanced civilizations of homo sapiens to rise and fall without a trace. You're welcome in advance.

The Blaauboschkraal stone ruins are widely understood to have been built and used by the Bokoni people[1] and date somewhere within the last 500 years. Pseudoarchaeological alternative explanations have been put forward for the Blaauboschkraal stone ruins, attributing alien and/or ancient origins. The most prominent proponent is Michael Tellinger, a politician whom Hammer and Swartz characterise as a promoter of conspiracy theories, influenced by Zecharia Sitchin's ideas of ancient astronauts.[10] He calls the site "Adam's Calendar", and claims it is the remains of an alien-made construction built about 300,000 years ago as an ancient calendar.[10][11][12] Tellinger theory is based on the alignments of the stones with the stars. The stones would have been aligned with the constellation of Orion in the position in which it would have appeared in that distant era.

@kellypatterson4412 I think civilisation is going through the fastest, greatest sociological change ever in history. Many are exhibiting savage mindless behaviour. Still, many more are becoming mindfully aware. Aware of how the mind works. We create what we dwell on.

Very interesting, but some of the speculations go a little too far. Is it really likely that the Göbeklis depicted a cosmic event that happened 2000 years earlier?

Göbekli Tepe survived until now because it was deliberately buried under soil and refuse around 8,000 BCE -- approximately 1200-years after it was built.

Thank Graham Hancock, whom you always have cancelled. A man as great as Champollion. And that's not a calendar but a code of some sort still undeciphered, left by the survivors of the Great Flood of 12500 BC. It's very similar to also still non-understood Toltec and Mesopotamian hieroglyphs.
