This gave me an idea for more shows you could do: How about one where you take two albums that both have a bit too much filler and make one awesome album. That would be the challenge...take 2 of the worst albums possible and make them into the one of the best albums possible. It would have to be back to back released or double albums or something like that. They would also have to fit on one CD or on one LP, depending on when they came out. Make a good track order with flow and opener and closer in mind. Good examples: Load and Reload....also, Use Your Illusion. Another show where you take an album that is too long (most albums made past 87 or so) and cut it down into one awesome 45 minute album....or in some cases, an EP. Same concept. Maybe you could do one of each of these per episode and call it Slashed and Mashed. And then a completely different one where you make a dream greatest hits or better yet, a concert setlist. The catch is that you have to include 2 songs from each album and one from any EPs or one B side/single or...whatever....depending on how big the band's catalog is. Basically, they have to be pulled equally from each album, but in any order. You don't have to pick any hits, no rules except equal amount of picks per album and equal to a full setlist...about an hour or two. Add solos wherever if you want. Stick in a Lars drum solo just to piss people off. Encore with a cover of a Limp Biskit song. Go nuts. This could be called "Fuck it, we'll do it live !" No...never mind...that's a silly name.

I missed this live, sorry it was a Saturday night in the UK when you streamed this and I was out for the evening. But I'll tell you my picks. Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning were really difficult. 1. Metallica - "Enter Sandman" (sorry if that's sacrilege) 2. ...And Justice for All "The Shortest Straw" (agree with you) 3. Master of Puppets ""The Thing That Should Not Be" (sorry, it's a slow doomy grinder - it's great for being different but I have always found it the hardest song to get into on that album, just by comparison to everything else that is awesome on there. I really like Leper Messiah). 4. Ride the Lightning - "For Whom the Bell Tolls" (I agree with Eddie! If I'd caught this live I'd have put a vote for it in the chat. It's still a great song but this album is my favourite as well and I struggle to find anything weak on it. I like Call of Cthulhu, great closer to the album. For the flow of it overall, I think Bell Tolls is the most expendable). 5. Kill Em All - "Phantom Lord" (agree with you both again, I think the comparative weakest song on this and Justice is more straightforward).

I like that song 😂 My least favourite song now on that album is 'Enter Sandman', funnily enough. Probably because it's been overplayed and I never liked that lyric "off to never never land", petty I know.
@CatCaregiver-ie1ej3 жыл бұрын
I thought about taking off Sandman too, but Sad but True would not be a good album opener.
@jimmycampbell783 жыл бұрын
@@CatCaregiver-ie1ej Yeah with taking off Sandman I would probably have to adjust the track order as well. Maybe move Holier Than Thou forward as the first song, then Sad But True second track as usual and then after two heavy songs like that, you have The Unforgiven and the rest of the album is the same.
Kill Em' All- Phantom Lord Ride The Lightning- Escape Master Of Puppets- Lepper Messiah And Justice For All- Shortest Straw Metallica- The Struggle Within

Sorry I couldn't make the stream Ste, was trying to find out where I'm living next year. Especially sorry that i missed out on being an aggregator for G'd n R'd! I'll be there next time round. Kill Em All: Phantom Lord (it is obviously an absolute banger but it's the one that plays it with a straight bat the most on the album, alongside Motorbreath but Motorbreath is shorter) Ride the Lightning: Escape (I hate to be cliché and if it was just a case of the album I'd say Bellz, because I feel it doesn't quite fit with the flow, but while the rules are I can never hear the song again, I'm not giving up Bellz) Master of Puppets: The Thing That Should Not Be (I'm sorry Ste I know it's your fav, but of the slower tracks on the album I find it the least interesting. Until recently I'd say Damage Inc. but I just learned how to play it soooo...) ...and Justice for All: To Live is to Die (eye of the beholder is my least favourite but I still love it and to me suicide and redemption is just a better version of to live is to die, so I can still get the experience. Also this does a good job of bringing down the run time) Metallica: Don't Tread on Me (I don't think this needs any explaining and clearly you agree)

Easily the most frustrating C&R (G&R) still a great episode but just No no no , glad I didn't listen live might of smashed my computer . I have 'The Devil, Shaved Soap And Gasoline' bootleg on vinyl which has lot's of early recording's and some other thrash bands on it. My favorite live show is Metallica '89 one of the first thrash bands to play down here, so so good an encore after the lights came on. Live shows are off the cards here atm but i saw King Parrot in July before the last lock down and they kicked arse as per usual. The Chat at the end was the best bit . Metallica should cover a song by every band they have on the blacklist album!

Black Album - Don't Tread on me Justice - Shortest Straw Puppets - Battery - yeah, that's right. I'm surprised no one else ever says this. The songs in the middle of this album are the most unfuckwithable ever and I've never disagreed with y'all more. To me, Battery and Damage Inc. are the least interesting songs. Not bad at all, but just....basic punk rock played by an awesome metal band. That's it. I can't take out Damage Inc. because Orion is not an album closer, but I can take out Battery, because the title track would open the album just fine. Lightning - Fade to Black - First of all, thank you for standing up for Escape. Love that song and Trapped under Ice, those two alone make this my favorite side 2 of any album ever. I can't take out For Whom the Bell tolls because it is fucking awesome as shit, and it's the first time that Metallica showed that they could be epic and heavy while playing slower. I can't take out Ktulu because it's the perfect album closer and it does everything Fade to Black does except better. Kill em All - I'd actually take out Metal Militia because Seek and Destroy would be a better album closer. Also, you could pull whiplash down to side 2...it would be a better side opener than Phantom Lord and Anesthesia, the bass solo, would be a fine side closer for side 1. Also, I have a weird love/hate relationship with Heavy Metal songs that are about Heavy Metal. Metal Militia is one I could do without, especially since pretty much every other song on the album is about Metal, but just a little less "on the nose" as Eddie would say.

Missed this stream. Sorry dudes... Below there's the list of stuff I would NEVER touch from each original studio album: Hardwired To Self Destruct: Hardwired, Atlas Rise, Am I Savage, Dream No More, Confusion, Spit Out The Bone Death Magnetic: That Was Just Your Life, Broken Beaten And Scared, Cyanide, Suicide And Redemption St. Anger: Frantic, Some Kind Of Monster, Invisible Kid, Dirty Window, The Unnamed Feeling Reload: Fuel, The Memory Remains Load: Ain't My Bitch, 2x4, Until It Sleeps, King Nothing, The Outlaw Torn Black Album: Through The Never, The God That Failed, My Friend Of Misery, The Struggle Within... and yeah... Enter Sandman. ... And Justice For All: Blackened, And Justice For All, One, Shortest Straw, Harvester Of Sorrow, The Frayed Ends Of Sanity, Dyers Eve Master Of Puppets: Battery, Master Of Puppets, The Thing That Should Not Be, Welcome Home (Sanitarium), Leper Messiah, Orion Ride The Lightning: Fight Fire With Fire, Ride The Lightning, For Whom The Bell Tolls, Trapped Under Ice Kill 'Em All: Hit The Lights, Anesthesia, Motorbreath, Jump In The Fire, No Remorse, Seek & Destroy, Metal Militia.

I'm gonna be crucified for this but have to stay honest to myself: Black Album: For sure The Unforgiven or Wherever I May Roam (I would remove both gladly). ... And Justice For All: Favorite album by the band. No bad songs here but surely the one I like the least is The Eye Of The Beholder. The others are untouchable IMO. Master Of Puppets: Once again no bad songs here but I think Damage Inc is the one I like the least. Ride The Lightning: Oh boy this one's difficult since it's a classic but I never was crazy about Creeping Death (sorry Old Head). Escape is a close second. Kill 'Em All: Phantom Lord is a bit of a half baked tune IMO. The Four Horsemen is a close second since I consider the early version (The Mechanix) better. Anyway now that we're at it the next albums: Load: Hero Of The Day for sure. Reload: Low Man's Lyric is a cool experience but composition wise does little to me. St. Anger: Shoot Me Again for sure. IMO their worst tune. ST. Anger is a close second (all the other songs have at least some interesting stuff in it). Death Magnetic: The Day That Never Comes... not bad but quite boring. Hardwired To Self Destruct: Murder One. Although Man Unkind comes close. Garage Days: Green Hell (love Last Caress though) Garage Inc: Tuesday's Gone or Turn The Page

Kill Em All - Anaesthesia (Pulling Teeth) I love the song, it's extremely impressive and I wouldn't want it to not exist so idk make it a B-Side to a single or put it on the Jump In The Fire EP... But then again I feel like removing it might've made Jason Newstead not notice Cliffs talents as much and would change the band's history Ride The Lightning - The Call Of Ktulu It's a brilliant instrumental and super atmospheric but I don't think it works well as an album closer (would've been a better opener imo) and I think there's too much repetition in the song which feels a bit like filler Master Of Puppets - Battery Controversial pick but honestly it's the least interesting song for me, it just feels like a retread of Fight Fire from the album before it (it's better than that song imo but it feels a bit too samey for me) and at the same time I just in general think it's the weakest of all the tracks on this album And Justice For All - Harvester Of Sorrow Not a bad song but man I love every song on this album a lot, but sometimes this song feels a bit like a slog to me whereas the rest are all just either moody and clean or headbanging balls to the wall speed Metallica - Enter Sandman I agree with you guys that Don't Tread On Me is the worst in terms of songwriting and it's sorta boring but for me Enter Sandman is just annoying even when I first started hearing it, it just never clicked with me and felt really mundane to listen to... Not helped by how overplayed it is I guess but that aside I still don't like this song all too much

So... checked the rules, and give my choices before listening to yours guys... BLACK ALBUM: Enter Sandman Easy one AJFA: One The only Song i skip when listening to the Album.. overheard i guess, good Song though MASTER: Disposable Heroes Tough one, erase a song from a perfect Album.. thank you🤣 But i could never go for the Song you may have picked: LEPER MESSIAH So i picked a faster Song to keep the Balance... next RIDE THE LIGHTNING: Pffff... call of ctuluh Also a perfect Album, so i go the easy way and just cut the last few minutes and not ESCAPE... everything works perfectly so i have to keep it together as much as possible KILL EM ALL: Phantom Lord Cant really tell why... but again. Guess it wouldnt hurt as much as if another one Was missing. No remorse has to stay Now lets see what you guys did... My guess - one of the two ballads - shortest straw (repetetive?) - Leper Messiah (its not a fast Song 🥱) - Escape... dont know.... - Jump or motorbreath... maybe Though i think Steven doesnt go with most choices🤣🤣🤣
