Oldschool Car Damage System - Devlog 4

This devlog is dedicated to the car damage system. It uses textures, morph targets, shader offsets, particles and sound effects. It's fairly close to the final version, but some things will change, like the sound effects and particles.
I'm working on an open-world heist game developed in Unreal Engine 4 with PS1.5 style graphics.

Dayum THAT TRANSITION. The cars look great. The game looks great. The damage system is fucking great. I watch a lot of devlogs, but this game is one I'm actually really looking forward to. I could image that just the sandbox aspect could be so much fun.

Any damage is awesome damage!! Just need particle effects of tiny pieces of sparks and body parts coming off and awesome crash physics. 🔥💯🔥 Good job on the damage models man. 💯🔥 Liked the video.

​@@Marcis.And how did you create that physics I am looking for this type of physics for modern games which is even better than gta 4 but needs a slight mod the doors are not openable and both the front and back cover does not open completely these two things need to be fixed. In fact your game is just perfect. Imagine it's a multiplayer game with real time players I will really appreciate if this game is released in android and iOS. Mad respect for u.

Cool video on the new car texture. I was wondering what do you use to create these textures in terms of the software used and how to do it correctly especially when making the damaged versions to an existing car model. Love the work you are putting into this game. It is so inspiring both in term of game development and modding.
