So interesting thing, as silly as this song is, it actually has a lot of history to it. Back in the early days off Minecraft and Minecraft streamers, one group, Yogscast, had a boring segment in their stream where they were just digging. One of the people had a dwarf as his skin and they asked him to sing while no one had much to say and he sang “I’m a dwarf and I’m digging a hole, diggy diggy hole.” It caused everyone to laugh and they made fun for a bit and moved on. That group later made a whole song to accompany that bit and it was a hit in the Minecraft community. Just about everyone in the community had heard it. They later did a remix that became the the official version of the song. Now insert Wind Rose, a dwarven metal band. They make fantasy metal music catered to dwarves, they have an entire album dedicated to J.R.R. Tolkien’s dwarves. They hear this song and like it. Interesting tidbit, as silly as the song is, it does in fact encompass dwarven philosophy of miners at heart and soul. This is probably why Wind Rose decided to make the cover. So now, nearly *ten years later,* this cover is released and it hits so many with nostalgia from those early days of Minecraft and the new metal take on the song causes more fantasy and metal fans to discover this weird song.

I hope you've heard the original song by now, the Yogscast one. It's a shame that a lot of people think this is a Wind Rose original. I'm surprised that a lot of people in the comments say the original joke song was on a stream. It was in a youtube video from the Yogscast's Minecraft series Shadow of Israphel. The series started as just Simon and Lewis learning Minecraft, and then they suddenly ran into a bunch of other characters. And after a while they named the series Shadow of Israphel, after the villain of the story. The Diggy diggy hole joke was in the 46th video in the playlist, which is part 8 of Shadow of Israphel.

I come on a bit late, and you might already have found out, but i still like to point out, the music genre is called "Symphonic Power Metal" and is probably the most positive metal rock variant. Gloryhammer is another great band making SPM, and yes, they have their own theme, most have, Alestorm for example have a strong "Pirates and alcohol" theme for example. Powerwolf are "christian church & and classic monsters" themed, mostly Werewolves. But right now, Sabaton are probably the most prolific SPM band, they make songs about historical wars which innitially got them wrongfully a reputation as Nazis.
