These old machines look pretty clunky and scary when they are so neglected. But when they are restored like this they truly look like a piece of art!

Do not forget: this is an old machine from east germany, called: GDR or German Democratic Republic. And yes, I think it is a good quality machine. Sorry, but your option of the color is in my opinion not so good. It is an Industrial machine and the prefered colors in this time are RAL 6011 (Resedagrün) and RAL 7031 (Blaugrau). Btw. good work.

Nice job...looks like new + all screws and bolts polished 👍. Great !! Only 1 think bothers me...I believe the new bearings are a bit noisy when you switch off the bench grinder. I hear a ballbearing sound which I don't like. Sorry...I think something is wrong with a ballbearing. I don't know the orice of the ballbearings yiu use but I can tell you from my experience cheap bearings are usualy no good... All the rest you do..great job 👍

Nice work but I'd preferred you restored it to the original Hammerite finish. The filler, not really necessary, never even had any from factory! Consider using a bug repellent!

Wow, right down to the stator and windings. I thought I was a little OCD with my cable-trays, switchboards, machine rebuilds, etc... you have me beat hands-down. Not that one has time when there are a dozen other things to do/fix and you're being paid. Lovely job and great old machine back in service.

"Wieso feilst du die Kanten nicht ab und rundest die Ecken nicht?" "Hey, da müssen doch die vielen Macken gefüllt werden." "Wie bitte? Ohne Grundierung geht das ja mal gar nicht." Kurz: Mein innerer Monk dreht bei schlechten Kanälen frei.

That was hellish, I always like to see a bit of welding take place I've only done MIG and ARC, I've seen some restorations where the weld looks like bird shit droppings. Keep up the good work, lockdown has turned me into a raging alcoholic I need something to keep me occupied.

Türkische Farbe und Schalter, die drehen in Leipzig am Dönerspieß... Gab es einen spezifischen Grund für Nacci Kugellager? Ich hab auch so einen, aber von 1959, mit Aluminium Wicklungen und die Werkstückauflagen noch aus Guss und mit Rohrklemmung, sowie mit dem alten Schalter, mit 2 Druckknöpfen. Aber saubere Arbeit, ich hab bei meinem drauf verzichtet die Wicklung zu ziehen und ihn dann abgeklebt gesandstrahlt.

They are sealed bearings. You don't need to put grease anywhere near them, especially in the bearing housing, .you want the outer race to stay seated in the housing and the shaft to grip the inner race. Do not use lube there, no grease, no oil nada. ok!

Hey, great work! How did you keep the electrolysis so clean looking? Mine ends up like a slurry with rust floating around. I use soda for in the water and use steel as anode. Is it jsut the copper?

thanks, actually your technique is more accurate. copper is not east.

Something's definitely off with the electrolysis in this video. You can't just dump nuts & bolts into the solution an d expect them to derust. They need to be in contact with the source of current.

Great work, as always, but I have a question. Did you connect the loose, rusted parts in the glass jar to the cathode during the electrolysis rust removal? Just sitting in the electrolyte will do almost nothing to remove rust from a rusted part unless that part is connected to the cathode. It's the electrical aspect that removes rust, not the electrolyte itself. The connection is probably something you did off camera, but I was just curious about it since it wasn't in the video.

It's better to check if rotor is still balanced since all these years. And/or re-balance system after assembling.

It sounded unbalanced and I will never trust that wheel. Rule number one with grinders coming to your shop, check the wheel. Even when transported well any shock can create a crack and the wheel can explode, this one definitely should go into the trash can.
