Reading the comments, I learned the Allen Hale here was the Skipper's father. I thought the voice was the Skipper himself, just a bit different. Thanks to all who made comments!

Thanks to Gilligan's Island, Alan Hale Jr. is far better remembered than his father. But back in the day, Alan Hale Sr. was a much more successful actor than his son, The Skipper. Alan Sr. appeared in almost 250 films going all the way back to 1912.
