Perhaps my favorite written score. The brass and percussion blended together perfectly.

This song is an act of forgiveness, an act of defiance, and a mixture of feelings of what it means to be an American. To like only one half of it and hate the other half means you're full of hate for one side. We are ALL Americans, no matter what our past was. Grow up, quit crying, and learn that simple truth.

I live (for most of my life, did live in Amory during WWII) less than 3 hrs. from Oxford and am sad to say I have never been to the grove on football saturday. There may still be time. Would love to hear this band play this rousing number. Now that they have Kif as head football coach I would also likely go to the game. (that is if I could get a ticket!)

They destroyed Ole Miss and America. Hopefully one day a director will surprise everyone at halftime and break out with our song when honor and God and tradition made Ole Miss a great college to attend.

Guys like the one in the black coat in the bottom of the screen are the reason we can’t have this beautiful song anymore

I will always stand up when Dixie is played..no one will ever make me remove the Confederate flag I have in my office. They fought for the right cause against the growing Federal govt which is still a great problem today. Chuck in Spokane washington

@@chuckniblock8606 They fought against the growing Abolition movement in the USA. Take your rag down.

@Peepis Poopis The Confederate flag is THE symbol of the anti-abolitionists in the South. The slavers and the schmucks they hornswoggled into fighting the US Army with them, using jingoism AND racism to stir the common folks. it is still working, you are an example. There were several "Confederate" flags, the last one was a pure white of surrender. get over it. You lost.

It's a beautiful melody. Saying the "south will rise again" ... take it how you want. There are thousands of Rap songs that talk about killing black people, white people, and police etc... Just pull up and NWA song for example. Also degrading women with derogatory names. Do we ban those or bring those Rap artist to public shame? No -- Nor should we. It's freedom of expression in the USA ... 1st Amendment covers this. Precisely why we built the Constitution, to design a country to allow its people to be free in their lives and words. The 13th Amendment did the right thing by allowing black people in specific, to have those rights too. 1st Amendment: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I think that is Southerners feel a certain nostalgia when we hear Dixie. But we can’t forget the blood that was spilled and the many black people murdered and enslaved. Don’t get me wrong I love my heritage from the South. Unfortunately, ignorant people now use it as a symbol of hate.
