@@lazyturfbattler 🤣 case and point. My Samsung G7 has been running since October 2020. I work 100% from home and do office work, so about 90% static productivity applications. Additionally I'd say 1-2h of gaming each day. My best guess is the screen has been on for 12.000 hours so far and I expect the screen to d0 the same work for another 10.000 - 20.000 hours. So if someone says "My OLED has been used for 20.000 hours in Excel with no burn in" then I'm listening.

Wallpaper engine with a moving wallpaper as screensaver has prevented burn in for me completely. It's never static for longer than 5 minutes and if I forget to turn things off when I leave the house, the Screensaver turns off wich saves me. Use a moving wallpaper + Screensaver for your OLED.

As „moving“ images don‘t repair an OLED, I am simply using a black background like in the video but I hide the taskbar and I have my icons on other monitors. Never spend a lot of time on the desktop anyway so I don‘t care about fancy images. This is actually the best you can do.

What is the point? Burn-in isn't caused by static images it's caused by accumulated time emitting light.

Idk about monitors - but my uncle has been using an OLED TV from 2015. He paid $10K for it - 55 inch curved flagship OLED from LG. He watches tons of news and sports on it - almost exclusively news and sports. I did the burn in test on that and there was no sign of burn in last week! That’s in 2024! Ever since then - I’ve been using my C2 and Alienware excessively without babying it anymore
@alexlun4464
@alexlun4464 27 күн бұрын
But that's because there's little to no risk of burn-in while watching TV. Doing computer work on an oled screen is different because things seldom move on the screen - the task bar is always at the bottom of your screen for example
@msironen
@msironen 26 күн бұрын
My LG B65 OLED TV from 2016 was completely burned by about 2021 near the bottom of the screen where you have the scroller graphics from news broadcasts etc, and I didn't even watch news very much. Just got back from my in-laws and their 2017 C55 is definitely showing some burn in as well. That said, the early models from mid 2010s had a lot less burn in prevention features than the current ones. Our current C1 is doing fine but what I've noticed is that the burn in isn't gradual, but once it starts it quickly gets worse.
@msironen
@msironen 26 күн бұрын
@@alexlun4464 That's not right. A lot of broadcast TV have very static, task bar like graphics that will definitely burn in first on an OLED TV. Think of the text scrollers (well, their background) in the bottom of news broadcasts, channel logos at the corners of the screen etc.

My 2 weeks old PG32UCDP has the firmware MCM105 installed which is not available on the ASUS website. The Screen Saver function in the OLED Care menu is currently broken in MCM103 and MCM105. In SDR it only dims the edges and they stay dimmed for ever. If HDR is enabled the function seems to work. So for now the best option is to have it disabled anyway. I reported that to ASUS and they replied that will fix it in an upcoming FW update.

@@DecimKing They just released a new FW the last few days. The screen saver feature still seems only to work when HDR is activated but it does not bother me to be honest. Would still buy this monitor again because I love the WOLED panel. The only thing I can complain that it sometimes takes a little bit long to switch between SDR and HDR for example. The screen goes black for around 10 seconds or so and then there are days where the switch is instant. If you look for a 32" WOLED display I would still recommend this monitor

got burn in after one year on the alienware AW3423DWF but kind of defuse, it's less noticeable than if it was just in one area and I see it only on full grey screen (like xbox interface), still not really ok with that, because I made everything I can to prevent this (run maintenance program every 4h, fast sleep transitions, hide icon bar, turn the pc on sleep mode every time I go away), I kind of think that burn in can still be better than all the issue you can have with LED panel compare to OLED, but I believe we should wait for less burnable screen if we want to use OLED with pc and windows that seems really made to burn your screen as fast as possible
@msironen
@msironen 26 күн бұрын
OLED owner of a few months here as well. I fairly immediately turned on screensaver as well (Mystify), but frankly it's disappointingly incomplete solution. It turns out there's a LOT of ways for various applications (like a browser displaying video) to simply prevent Windows (10 at least) from activating the screensaver. I use a KVM software when working from home, and that damn thing does it as well! (you can check this by typing powercfg -requests in command prompt, and see if any process is holding up the Display). Basically, if I forget the KVM software on after finishing work or leave a youtube browser open, I'm gonna come back to the exact static I image I left on even hours later. I wish there was some, even 3rd party, solution of FORCING the goddamn screensaver to go on, no matter what. That said I haven't noticed any burn in either yet so I guess I just gotta be more careful about the screensaver.

I so the asus WOLED with semi-glossy screen it’s good but only comes in 27in and 144hz and 2k resolution so I am begging LG to bring the 32in 4k/1080p 240/420hz GLOSSY WOLED 0.03ms please make that dream come true LG

The biggest drawbacks to OLED computer monitors are VRR flicker and low nits lackluster HDR. Reviewers do not speak much about these two glaring issues. Mini LED for monitor and OLED for television makes more sense to me.
@EverTechReviews
@EverTechReviews Ай бұрын
I don't have much issue with it on this particular panel since the "anti flicker" feature limits the VRR range and my system is pretty powerful. But i've tested some panels (m10s) that have horrible flicker and it is definitely an issue on OLED.

Agree think oled got more annoying issues in daily use than IPS not mentioned i.e. ABL low HDR compared to IPS panels and poor near black performance.
@Tripokaridos22

Nothing makes sense all panels have problems. OLED have VRR flicker , Burj in, lose brightness after years, reflection problems , Mini led have problems like Fan noise and Terrible ghosting and blur watching movie it's ok but playing games it's like an old VA panel . Also there is blooming. There is no solution. It depends by the usage, IPS are perfect balance for Productivity Monitors for day and Night use with Antiglare coating , Oleds are perfect for night use and fast competitive games, and VA or mini led panels are great for Day use watching Movies.

13 months ago I picked the OLED LG C3 48" it will do 4096x2160 @120Hz with a pixel response of .1ms, it also supports 12 bits of color per channel so it good for almost 69 billion colors in the pallet, as it had the best price to performance ratio based on displayable pixels. I paired it with the 4070ti super and had to use a 80-dollar 4' HDMI 2.1 cable. The 4070ti super hit the sweet spot for the price to performance ratio as last year was too close to buy anything higher end as the 50 series GPUs were too close to being launched.

My first gen oled LG CX 48 has 3120+ hours, and yea same usecase as yours, 0 burn in, and ik a friend in India, she has both the 2nd gen LG C1 and 3rd gen lg oled LG C2 (same as yours) with both more than 6000 hours, 0 burn in ofc. Another anecdote is my friend in the nordic, he has a 2nd gen Samsung's QD-oled panel for at least 4-5000 hours doing social media management work, email etc, no burn-ins. So yea, just keep the oled care features on, don't force ur brightness to 100% + HDR on a solid white or solid image object and ur gucci (aka common sense). Also a side note, yes oled does have burn-in, but not to a degree that you as a regular average joe consumer should really has to be on the constant look out about, so yea just get oled for productivity, code, whatever man, just use common sense like I listed above and ur good, cuz from the 3rd generation oled onwards they had truly got this burn-in issue under control, that's why they are confident with their 3y warranty.

If you do productivity, and want an oled... Rather just buy a tv instead. Pros : - Cheaper - more versatile (tv) - bigger (we all know it all comes to the size at the end) - more immersive and more enjoyable HDR experience Cons - some manufacturers like LG are bit shady when it comes to burn in cover (in other words, dont cover it) The price you paid for that Asus monitor, could potentially buy almost 2 of 42 " LG C4s. (Referring to the prices during black friday sales)
@DisasterProblem

Since when does productivity equal color work that you'd need "immersive " and "hdr" experience tho? Additionally, color edditors work in SDR mainly. I can even let you know of the standarized color ranges if you need me to. It is smoother to even write damn code on higher hz. Its more responsive at everything and of course games you throw at it too. We're talking about monitors here. Why would I do any type of productivity/work using any type of HDR/color modifiers ON A 42 INCH monitor burning on my face ? I'd have to sit 4 meters away.

the amount of measures and compromises you have to take with oled to reduce burn-in on £1000+ monitors that will STILL inevitably burn in and become defective is insane. buying oled monitors is so stupid. in the next year or 2 I guarantee there will be a push back on oled monitors when all these people finally see that burn-in does exist and their £1000 monitor is now worth nothing and complete e-waste after they buy a new one
