What did you think of the annoying wave feature to change modes?? You didn’t mention that.
@PreparedGuy
@PreparedGuy 2 жыл бұрын
Wow, I filmed a 2 minute demonstration in the video and somehow it's just not there🤷🏻‍♂️. That's the weirdest thing. These things happen when your computer crashes and mid productions and you've spend 70 hour in one week filming and editing day and night. I did mention it during the beam shot outside test near the end of the video but the segment was suppose to be right before I started talking about the lockout mode. Crazy. Oh well. It was kind of a useless and poorly executed add on that very little to no thought was put into it in my opinion. If your hands are to busy to push a button to turn the light up or down then how do they expect you to bring your hand up to wave? I think it would be more useful to be able to turn the headlamp on or off more than just changing changing levels. I don't hate it. It will probably come in handy for some folks but honestly I gave so little cares about it that when editing the video I didn't even notice it missing 🤣👍😎 I hope that will answer some folks questions. By the way thank you for pointing it out and for actually watching the whole video. . I literally went back and watched the whole video too because I couldn't believe I left something out that I spent time filming 🤣 oh well. Almost time for a flashlight vacation for me.

@@PreparedGuy i had to watch it a second time before i made the comment, to make sure i didn’t miss it. I personally dont like it cause when the light hits the palm of your hand it reflects back into my face. Plus when u go from low flood mode and want to turn on the spotlight it jumps up to turbo for me every time.
@PreparedGuy

Absolutely, I agree, I hate being blinded,. I kinda wish they made the sensor like the one on the light I just made a video on. It's the last video I made. The light it self was kinda blah but I reviewed for a small company that wanted my honest opinion. I actually liked the sensor placement on the cheap Eguku headlamp verse the placement on the 2S. Thank you for actually taking the time to bring the missing part to my attention. I will make an update video explaining the sensor feature in more detail and give you a shout out In the update video. The sensor would jump to turbo for me too. However the sensor is kind of advanced as it actually can detect your hand position. Instead of swiping left and right try swiping bottom to top and vice versa. I found that it helps solve thee direct to turbo issue. It still blind you but it's a little less blinding because it steps the modes from low med and high as it shot instead of going straight to turbo. Like I said I will demonstrate it in a video update and it will definitely help. 👍😎👍

I like the feature when my hands are full of nasty shit, and I dont want to touch my light. I'd rather have the jump to spotlight mode start in low, rather than in high though.. Otherwise I find the feature handy sometimes.

I just tell it like it is man, Some stuff I love some stuff I like and some stuff doesnt even make it to the channel because it so bad, I'll bash one feature and give credit to another feature on the same light.. Over all I like 90% of Olights stuff but the things I dislike I mention briefly but I don't intentionally go out of my way to bash anything outright from a malicious place. It's all relative perspective at best. I'll take a poop on a company for making a bad product and then praise them when they make an awesome product, its all part of being an honest reviewer with an opinion. No one is safe from critique. This is a great light. You don’t realize how much you need it until you have it…like a good set of wireless ANC earbuds! (Beats Fit Pro, cough cough) But seriously, I weeded the flower garden last night after the kids went to bed and the temps cooled off late last night. Was still sweating but never fighting any slippage on the unit or the wave feature. Will try other types of work to see if it inadvertently trips the wave feature, in particular, deforesting behind my house with machetes and such. I don’t think it will as I was working very up close last night. When the sun goes down, let’s get to work! Thumbs up so far.

I was REALLY impressed with the red light for exactly that!. This will be great if you have a 20 or 30 minute (or more) walk out to the blind in the very early morning before the sun comes up! And the run times are impressive.

From now in I’m waiting for you to take the hit on cool stuff I want before I buy lol. I did buy this light and I do like it’s light output. However, it wants to cycle through modes either too quickly or it’s skipping around, I can’t tell which but it’s very hard to select the next brightness level one at a time. The wave feature is cool but in an actual dark environment the light reflecting off of your hand back into your eyes is annoying and affects night vision.

I had an issue like that duck hunting. Paddling in the front of a canoe, every time the oar passed in front of my headlamp it basically blinded me temporarily. You can imagine how many times that can happen paddling lol. I needed this review to know I do NOT want this light.

Nice review...I think Olight offers a great product for the coin...obviously there are better and more costly options. I own the 2s and would add the strap as a definite con. The light is designed with helmet or other headgear in mind and unfortunately requires too much adjustment of the device when simply worn "naked".

At 6:44 , that's interesting how the light turned white before it turned off. Can you tell us if this is the actual behaviour or my eyes or the camera sensors played a trick on me? Also, there's no way to remove the battery pack if I don't want the extra builk? The whole kit must be togeter at all time?

I like the light alot, but I just wish the light levels cycled through the range slower when you hold the button to change the level. I find myself not letting go of the button fast enough when the level I want cycles around, and I miss it, and have to start over. It's a minor gripe, but it's there.

I've been very happy with my Sofirn SP40, I use it every day and love it. No red mode, and it's micro USB not C, but it will hold 1200 lumen turbo forever without stepping down and it's a nice mix of flood and throw. It takes 18650 battery, so it's easy to carry spares. They're very cheap compared to olight and just as good IMO.

Pretty good review but the one thing I really want to know is was there a brightness step down during the (almost) 4hr 1000lm test?? I can't find any info on this anywhere so I'm starting to believe that there isn't, but that would be remarkable. Ta.
@PreparedGuy

It drops down to about 800 lumens after a few minutes but then stays on that output for about 3 hours and 20 mins as far as I could tell from the runtime test conducted in the studio. It's definitely my go to headlamp for everything. Especially when I need something that will last a long time without me having to worry about it.

Hey man loved the vid. I'm a little baffled. I'm a big olight fan but I purchased the nitecore hc 70. It has a belt pack with 2 18650s and turbo runtime (1000lm) of 2.15 hr meanwhile olight damn near doubles that with 1 freaking BATTERY! How?
@PreparedGuy
@PreparedGuy 2 жыл бұрын
That use high efficiency capacitors to cycle the power. If you have ever owned an I5T you'll notice that the light slowly ramps up when placed in the high mode. That is the capacitor charging up to deliver a continuous uninterrupted power supply to the led. The same goes for their head lamps. It's that capacitor cycle that give it a longer runtime and brighter output. Its a smart way to go about the process. I don't think nitecore has it down packed yet. The have the prices but not the advancements.
