Very nice English review of what looks like a well designed, well constructed torch and I like its simplicity and the use of magnetic charger. Must be one of the finest torches I have seen . Although have bought and used torches for many years , previous purchases have been on cheap battery types that have failed or become intermittent. There seems to be so many of these torches and all very similar. Are they made by a couple of firms who use different names ?

I'm using the Olight H2R. you can use it with a head mount strap (it's included). I use it when patching in network racks or when doing bike maintenance. Great light, up to 2300 lumens , both hands are free, and easy chargeable.

I've found that a lot of the torches that take the 3 AAA batteries in those plastic holders you can just put an 18650 lipo in place of the plastic holder and they work fine, the length is close enough that it normally works and although the diameter of the 18650 is slightly less you can either pack it out with something or just accept it'll rattle a little if you shake it. The voltage is fine, 3 AAA at 100% are 4.5V and a 18650 fully charged is 4.2V dropping to 3.7V fully discharged, so close enough it makes no difference, just be aware that the torch won't have protection for over discharging an 18650 so it's possible to knacker the battery Edit.... 21700 isn't a custom size, that's a standard size available from loads of places.

I think the full beam negates the need for it - it's not something you'd walk towards at close quarters.

Good God that thing is aggressively sexy. That red color for the entire light looks so striking. Are we actually finally getting powerful flashlights in colors beyond black? Hopefully not just from Olight.

@@spicy110 I have my suspicion that the led lenser ramps down the power after a while. Either that or my eyes start to get used to it or the voltage from the battery drops. Not sure.

Yes I do, I also got the MR2 I have done a video on, they are both fantastic lights. This one I use less than the MR2 as it is so powerful, if you use it in garage in the dark the light is so bright it hurts your eyes. Clearly it is made for lighting large areas. The MR2 has many brightness levels so it's more handy around the house. All depends on your needs but zero complaints about them.

I just tried turning it on and attaching the charger. It stayed on and the changing light was also on so it looks like a yes. I don't know if that's advised but that's what I can tell you 🙂👍

i have the Olight H2R CW i love the fact it can charge and be used at the same time. im a wheelchair user and i have a usb socket on my chair. i wear a molle vest with pockets and have the torch clipped to it. reason for the vest is its hard to get things out the bag on the back of my powered wheelchair one day i want to get back in to biking. gonna need to adapt my bike more

having a good torch is rely handy to bikers. i had to tape a torch to the handlebars years ago because the headlamp blew and i did not have a bulb with me. it was 2am no one awake to help. i think if i did not have the torch i would have had to call the AA lol
