What on earth is wrong with Paul Mitchell? On paper he looks head and shoulders the best candidate. Experience in the Premier, across Europe in other top leagues, across on another continent, big clubs, multi club models, big names, board level experience and success. He seems to have it all. The main plus is also he is unattached, so ready to go immediately with no compensation. Passed over by Liverpool lately so something is going on.

From Ramsdale's perspective I can't see why he would come to Newcastle, as he'd find himself in exactly the same position he is at Arsenal, he wouldn't be a guaranteed starter. I think he would cost too much money for someone who will likely be 2nd choice keeper. What is Olise's injury record? Palace seem great when he plays but I get the impression he is out a lot, similar to Saint Maximin.

I like Olise. Could see him fit in our team, just might be too expensive. Ramsdale is way too marginal of an upgrade to Pope. Might even be second choice after Pope.

Is Ramsdale really better than Pope? Maybe he's a bit better with his feet and distribution, but I've never really seen Ramsale as a sweeper keeper, but I could be wrong given I haven't watched him extensively, and given he's been second choice at Arsenal for a while now his playing style isn't fresh in my mind. I certainly wouldn't want us to get into the same situation that Arsenal had at the start with Ramsdale and Raya where it wasn't clear who was first choice. As for Tosin, Kelly and Olise they would be amazing signings. You'd perhaps want Tosin and Kelly to be a couple of years younger, but on the other hand when you are getting them on a free you can see the value of them having more experience in the premier league.

I don't think Willock fits Howe's midfielder type. He's not strong enough nor is he technical enough (I don't mean individual skill / vision, I mean short passing and press resistance). Sure he's quick and has a good engine but he lacks the work ethic of players like Joelinton, Anderson and Bruno. He's much more suited to being a winger in Howe's system but he's far behind Gordon and Barnes. Right now, I think we could get 30-35m for him which could easily be used to get a good midfielder from the Championship or abroad, I personally would love Jooey Veerman (best player in Eredivisie) or Wieffer (Rodri like player).

The little streets with restaurants and bars in the Latin Quarter and around Montparnasse are very nice. But also there is a boat with bars and food just off Pont Alexandre on the south side that is lovely. All those on the river around there are worth a beer for the view. Enjoy!

I really think we should avoid Ramsdale. He's proven he's not a top 4 keeper and also makes mistakes in big games. Sure Howe would improve him but I just don't think he has the potential to be any better than a decent EPL keeper. Keeper is the one position you must get right to win anything. Look at Inter, they won the league with Handanovic and then Onana came and they don't win, got rid of him and won again. All the top teams in the world have a reliable keeper. As a rule of thumb, if the top three clubs don't want a player, we shouldn't either if we wish to get to that level. This team is still a chasm away from Arsenal and Man City and pretty far away from Liverpool but could close it with 2-3 elite STARTING XI players. Last summer, we bought ZERO starting XI players (maybe Tonali would have been one). If we don't buy at least two Elite (CL quality) starting XI players I think top 6 might be the limit again barring several teams underperforming. Personally, we need 1 CL quality CB (Tosin/ Kelly are good squad players), 1 CL quality winger (ideally right). If possible, I'd like to move Longstaff +/- Willock (depending on fitness) for a CDM/ Ball Playing Midfielder like Wieffer and Veerman.

Ramsdale played 3 games this season and in all games made huge blunders, he’s a defenders nightmare to play in front, he can’t even concentrate for the full 90 and has to get involved with the crowd during the game it’s just embarrassing. He wouldn’t be cheap either with English tax, much better abroad
