Jim Crawford is a well known Scottish angler who has developed a number of succesfull Stillwater patterns. One of my favourites is the Father Jack. In this video I have added my own colour scheme and come up with an Olive version of the pattern. Ideal when fish are feeding in the top few feet of water.

I like this one will add some Muskins style breathers and my twist on shipman’s the rear breathers to the rear of the thorax rather than the tail. It gives the head slightly more buoyancy and it sits more like a pupae in the water column, both in the testing tank and on the leader.

Nice Lindsay, super glue is a good cure for the utc issue. I tie mine without the orange biots, just put a bid of orange dubbing behind the head instead

Forgive me for saying but if a thread requires super glue to prevent body rotation once the fly is finished the thread simply isn't fit for purpose.

It all depends on the purpose and the way the hook is finished.

If you just wax the thread you won't have any problems.

@lindsayiflyfish Your experience is different to mine. I've used Hanak Hooks and even Korda Carp hooks with a ceramic coating with no problems. We all do things that work for us and I've never had any issues in my 50 years of fly tying.

@@Dickie2702 Have you been using Nano silks? Normal threads are fine with just a little wax. Nano threads are a completely different story though.
