points in this video that can help any warm pale olive type skin owner such as myself 1) veins around eyes and wrists are blue whereas on body they are green 2) paper white does not suit you and clashes with your complexion whereas ivory and yellowish off whites look good on you 3) yellow toned warm toned makeup looks too orange on you but neutral or cool looks too pink 4) in wither you are never too pale but is quite yellow. In summer the tan does not go orangey-brownish-reddish but goes this desert sand or grayish tone of darker brown 5) natural hair color is warm or cool depending on the lighting (in sun it looks bronze reddish brown and in some indoor lighting it looks ashy) 6) you can pull off many colours of clothing, exept some that look just wrong and dont give you anything special 7) blue/gray eyeshadow does not fit :D 8) level 8-7 yellowy blonde (is too the same with your skin color) or reddish-caramel-strawberry blonde does not fit because it washes you out, but a bit more neutral caramel hair or dirty blonde or cool platinum suits you well, bevcause these have enough contrast with the skin 9) fuchsia looks awful, and contrary to some ..navy blue does not add to your beauty 10) some muted yellow tones suit you really well (daffodil, babana,butter,mustard) and some are just horrid (lemon,neon yellow,) 11) many warm and neutral and even slightly cool pink tones suit you if they dont lean too much into cool or neon 12) gold suits you better than silver but red gold suits you even better than yellow gold because it has more contrast with your skin ...anyone can add on

I definitely am more leaning towards warm muted olive since my skin has a lot of yellow in it, but I never felt like my skin was truly warm. I look too sickly to truly be warm. It's also such a struggle to find the correct foundation shade: Most drugstore foundations in Germany are pretty cool toned and too dark for me. The few other options are too yellow and also too dark. I always look for something extremely pale, olive, with yellow in it and I haven't found it yet. It clicked that I’m also an olive girl when you did the photo comparison with your friends (looking sickly sometimes next to others lol) and oohed over the jewel tones in your color exercise thingy. I love your approach to it, that even if our best colors are probably more saturated, we might not always want to be in something so loud. I’ve always gravitated towards bright saturated jewel tones but being a neutral that tends towards cool, I’m right in that section where deep autumn meets deep winter and even though there are more color options, there’s also more chances to make slight mistakes Thanks so much for your work and being so gentle and affirming with your audience ❤

Another thing I discovered about my olive skin is how blushes just tend to "disappear" on my cheeks, as time goes on they just blend in with my skin tone even after reapplying. I don't really blush naturally, even after intense workout. That maybe another sign of olive skin tone? Now I discover that the flashy tones look more vibrant on my cheekbones instead of "apples of the cheeks". This is really a self discovery journey, at the end of the day we see how ourselves don't really fit into the boxes.

In the 16 season system (used by Carol Brailey, she has a channel too), there's a "true muted" sesson, which is between SA & SSu. My grandpa was latino, and among my cousins, I'm the only one who inherited his warm olive copper'ish skin tone... who get dark af in summer (like surrounded by gringos). Deep reds, rich olive and cream/ivory colors suit me very well apparently. Oddly, pastels and washed colors make me look somewhat more "sick"... so I avoid these.

Besides the fact that I may be green, I also has a big hereditary dark circle and pale lips. No wonder my friends asked me if I was sick several times

in a lot of sleepover/community gathering, things I often hear my friends say is "you took a shower already? you don't like one." because I don't look fresh without makeup -_- I always thought, oh maybe I need a brightening, to look more fair. But then I find Audrey's video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3a8iJt8jrl4mac&ab_channel=AudreyCoyne the first time I noticed the problem with me finding a proper shade is thru that video. As a Chinese-Indonesian where our skin are so diverse from fair to dark we're not familiar with the word "olive", it's always been "kuning langsat" which literally translate to "yellow", and even store clerks often offer me shades closer to pinkish fair skin, just because i'm "lighter". But now because I know I am olive, it's easier for me to find a shade that suits me coz apparently the local makeup are creating for skin like myself! well, I'm glad I found this video... It gives me a lot of insight of loving the skin we're in, and I love your voice! Olives need more love

I am Turkish and I light olive skinned. My veins are extremely blue, but my skin is not cooltoned as the caucasian theory suggest, but neutral to slighly warm. I need contrast and deep colors. I avoid white, pastels, beige and olive tones. Valentino red on me does not look good on me. I can get away with almost any blue tint, deep greens, browns, reds. If I wear the wrong color I look like a dead person.

Neat, maybe I am olive. I never understood the green vs blue veins test, I couldn't tell lol, and I love the look of both white and yellow gold on me. I also always thought the shadows on my face looked kinda gray so I never understood how to pick contour or highlight colors either 😆 maybe we're onto something here!

THANK YOU for this video. Louder for the forgotten Asians in the back!!!! 🥰 I’ve had MUF give me pink foundations due to the redness on my face from acne flare ups, where I’ll then have a red face placed on a green body; and MUF sloppily give me ‘warm’ foundations that turn orange in 10 minutes and make my face 3 shades darker than the rest of my body... I have a nail polish addiction and every time I put on turquoise (or teal in general) lacquer, I gasp at how alive and vibrant I look. Even before figuring out real my skin tone, years ago, when my mum and I would go shopping, she’d compliment on how turquoise dresses and jewelry look on me. Now it all makes sense!!

I'm euro/Asian. Grey is my best color. However Red is great. I like to wear brighter medium cool toned colors in winter, otherwise I look dead. In the summer I wear Grey based pastels and really bright colors because I feel like my homemade is Grey. But the tan and pastel work well. Always Grey based.

This also applies to me and my mum - our ancestry is 100% European but we have this yellowish/orange in our skin from my great grandmother who I’m pretty sure must have been descended from Genghis Khan (I’m not joking, this woman looked Siberian, I’m serious). 😊 We look superficially warm but actually it just doesn’t work. And we both look seriously sick in salmon pink and orangey reds. I recently discovered neutral foundations yay 😊

You get a lot of “pale olive” occurring in Eastern Europeans as well as Southern Europeans. Olive should really get more discussion than it does.
@atlantis315 Жыл бұрын
yes to the eastern europe. I am of slavic descent and I am a rather pale, warm-leaning olive. I am literally greenish ashy grey in winter and (luckily), a rather pretty golden in summer. In my 32 years of age, I have not managed to find a foundation that would fit me perfectly. I usually mix a green pigment/color correcor to any base make up.@@tinad8561

As a warm Asian olive, I feel like I have an easier time with the existing color systems than my fellow cool Asian olives... Or is that in my head?
@kitty_s23456 Жыл бұрын
Hi. I think for Asians (esp Southeast Asians), there are more makeup & clothes choices for warm than cool undertones. I think for the fair skinned East Asians (Koreans, Chinese, Japanese), there are more cool than warm toned. However, one really can't know the color season unless draping is done. I'm a warm toned SE Asian (true autumn) and it's easy to find makeup & clothes for me.
@llglitterll30113 жыл бұрын
Im not sure if im Olive or not, whenever i wear green or yellow my skin looks yellow with hint of light green. I have tried all foundations. warm foundations turns my face orange, neutral and cool foundations turns my face ashy or dark. My veins are green blue and dark purple somewhere. Orange, sky blue, mustard yellow, pink, black, dark green clothes looks good on me. Silver jewelleries compliments me.

I would edit a bit because it adds to the confusion over olive skin. We are all just trying to understand our primary and under tone better. There are a lot of Caucasians with olive based skin. There are I believe 4 grades to olive skin and I’m one of them, as I am Italian. The cosmetic industry definitely ignores anyone not complex or pink or traditionally yellow toned. And then you have depth on either end of the spectrum that get left out the most. Better representation is needed and better advocates as well.
