I think the point of his message is that both parties are controlled by rich corporations and those at the bottom or middle are the ones being taxed to no end. If you get a chance check out Dax and Chris Webby’s remix

I worked in the mental health field and one of my jobs was 50 miles away from home. I was driving 100 miles a day and mental health professionals get paid very little for what we do. $400 a month was eaten up by gas alone. While I’m taking about mental health and drug use I can say I worked my butt off to give people resources to get clean and most don’t want to take it. I knew someone who was eyeballs deep in fentanyl addiction and I used my professional knowledge to get him hospitalized and cleaned up. When he got out he didn’t want to follow up with maintaining his sobriety and immediately went back into the drugs worse than ever. What a big problem with this issue is that we have to deal with incredibly heavy issues, put our heart and soul into helping people and we get paid squat and a lot of people leave for higher paying jobs. It shows as a society we don’t value people. If we start valuing people then the good professionals will stay in the field and maybe we can make some headway in this problem. Sorry this is so long, but I’ve been in the trenches and we’re so limited in what we do.

I don't get how you took this song and slaughtered with race, reparations, etc... this is a song for every working American. Not a song for blacks, not a song for whites, not a song for hispanics, not a song for Asians. This whole I don't get into politics, but I want to turn it into politics is asinine.

If you think the working man is not a political stance you might have to get your head checked, and if you think the exclusion of the black American in that working man ideology isn't happening then you are just mistaken. And songs are subjective meaning I can take whatever subject matter out of the song, but understand that the reason why black Americans vote at a historically low rate is because they feel excluded from these types of things that are considered American like "the working man".
