Three facts: 1 Sykes like Frollo and Ratcliffe is one of the most realistic Disney villians. Like the duo he has no superpowers but also like the duo there are unfortunately evil people like him out there. Sykes is implied to be a gangster or mafia boss and he is the head of some illegal racket. And him having some implied henchman to torture and then kill a victim and holding Jenny hostage unfortunately happens in real life. 2 Sykes is the only Disney villian seen with a modern day gun which he threatened to use on the dogs disguised as a pizza man. 3 Marlon Brando was originally approached to play Sykes but he refused fearing the film would bomb and likely regretted it

Skyes is one of the most underrated Disney villains. He doesn't have the charisma, style, or wildly outlandish personality that typically define Disney villains from the Wicked Queen to Cruella De Ville, Scar, Jafar, Hades, Professor Ratigan, Ursula, Gaston, or Maleficent, but he doesn't have to. He channels much of the same terrifying energy that Lady Tremaine does, but even more brutally so, given he's clearly some kind of loan shark mob boss. Much like Ratigan, though even more subtly so, he's a monster in a well-dressed suit, and is even less afraid to show how violent he is (Ratigan at least pretended to be a refined high-class criminal mastermind). Skyes shows you in such simple, understated ways how dangerous he is, just how much you would not want to be in arm's reach of him when enraged, through quick violent acts like shoving Fagain's loot back in his face, chok!ng him on his car window, or siccing his clearly bred-to-k!ll dogs on anyone with a finger snap, and that is before you see him snap the gear shift stick and window of his own car during the climax chase of the film.
