One of the down sides of living with dogs is that every so often one will come across an "interesting" smell and decide to roll in it, almost like applying perfume. It's a natural instinct they have that we don't entirely understand ( www.akc.org/expert-advice/lifestyle/why-dogs-roll-smelly-stuff/ ), but it's clear they don't find certain smells offensive the same way we do.

Dogs loooove dead things for some reason. My dog would occasionally find old bird cadavers and stuff and just roll around in them, I'm pretty sure it has to do with masking your scent from potential prey. It's awful though, and it smells like literal death. Decomposing flesh is genuinely one of the most violently pungent smells on this earth.

Honestly, I started laughing out loud when hearing the dead rat story. Just a wonderful reminder that, even with an adorable dog as Oliver, we are still dealing with an animal. The toweling off session gave me total flashbacks to my own (long deceased) dog. The trying to wrap the dog with a towel, the burst of energy released and the fun of the chase. I miss it all.

Thank you for always bringing a daily smile to our faces with Oliver:) I can smile again having good memories of our Rasta. She was taken way too young at 8yrs old with cancer. Thanks for posting the not so glorious part of owning a dog. While 90% of it is all fun, cuteness and happiness, there’s still that 10% where they just drive you nuts and do some wrong!! Thanks for bringing this to light for some potential future dog owners - owning one will always have its challenges 🙂 but the pros always outweigh the cons. We still love you Oliver

I know, it is kind of amazing! I don't know why Oliver almost never tries to jump out of the bath. It's the same thing whenever I pick him up--he never struggles when he's in my arms, even if I am picking him up to get him away from something that he really wants. I don't really understand why--he definitely has a mind of his own in some situations, but not in other ones.

He is actually stressed by being in the water. My dog becomes a statue whenever I bathe him. Notice he keeps licking his lips and his tail is down. I give mine treats as I bathe him which helps

Oh my God I love it I absolutely love this brings back so many memories of my beagle he was gone three years June 3rd and he did the same thing if it stunk he rolled in and when he got out of the bath I would call him mommy's crazy dog cuz he ran like crazy all through the jumping on couches and chairs jumping on the bed and then he would finally let me wrap him in a towel and snuggling him he was an 8-inch beagle I'm just using my phone I wish I could share a picture of him. . Dear Owner: I highly recommend getting a sprayer attachment. Makes bath time much easier and effective! P.S. I taught my dog to roll on a towel after his bath...he would have to be re-directed a few times, but mostly he dried off on his towel. Oliver is the cutest little Pinnochio!

As a beagle owner myself, nice job getting him to stay in the tub so calmly lol. I usually smear peanut butter on the wall when my dog needs a bath. In our home, we define the post bath frenzy as “nutzoid” 😂. It’s a race around the house and every piece of furniture we own…culminating in the exuberant finale on our bed. 😂. Glad to know we are not alone!❤️
