As I watch this video for the fourth time, I want to share an idea about this strategy. In my opinion, this strategy will not work for low or even medium levels of market knowledge. Instead, it can give advanced momentum traders a lot of valuable details to optimize their timing. Once again, I appreciate the excellent effort and good work of Jack Corselis. I had already read the book, but this video helped me to get a deeper knowledge about it.

I agree, it's a highly specialised strategy for advanced traders, but also one in which would have to suit that traders personality - which it does for Oliver.

This is definitely your most 'in the weeds' video yet but I learned a lot. I think I need to watch it a few times more! Thanks so much for putting this together Jack!
@JackCorsellis Жыл бұрын
Sure was. Actually was the hardest by far to try and explain because of first having to provide the 'cycle of price action' context with its fractal points (Wedge Pops, EMA Crossbacks, Base n' Breaks etc) then explain the numerous entry setups at different points of the price cycle and how to enter/initial stop/add/mitigate/optimise! Not an easy strategy to at first get your head around. Highly subjective and discretionary, but I think the broad concepts are solid - i.e., trade leading stocks from asymmetric trading opportunities whilst mitigating risk and riding trends!

Wonderful presentation and a fantastic strategy by Oliver Kell. Thank u for such wonderful videos. In hindsight, I think its kind of like the foundation is Bollinger Bands and then he takes it totally to next level.. amazing! 1 Q i wanted to ask (not related to this video). Sometimes, there is sudden volatility in stock (last15-30 minutes in trading day) and stock reaches 52 week high. The next day the stock falls. How to track such things (sudden volatility) and get out of the stock. Example Apar Industries and ABB Indian in Indian Market (NSE)

@@JackCorsellis @Jack Corsellis I am new to trading. What happened recently is couple of stocks just zoomed in last 15 - 30 minutes of trading.. and next day they fell.. i was not stopped out but the thing is now they again go into consolidation.. so is there any indicator to look for sudden increase in volatility or to just treat it as exception and take it as part of trading

thank you Jack, great video and great breakdown of the strategy and the action .. good learning honestly 2020 and 2021 were (relatively) easy to trade, given the COVID impact, especially TSLA around the stock split and the inclusion in the S&P .. so these examples aren't really the "model" to expect in every market. it's a lot more tricky in 2023 until we recover from the ongoing inflation fight - so traders need to be aware that the market now is sort of working against the bulls. - cheers,

You're welcome, thank you for watching and commenting. I agree, the market moves in cycles and part of the cycles are more advantageous than others for certain strategies. A momentum breakout strategy, in the hands of a skilled operator, is going perform better in a strongly up-trending market vs a downwards trending and/or range bound market environment.

Can you speak about the stop losses.. are you noticing yourself and the pros are using a stop limit, or straight stop loss when placing stops.. Also the same goes for orders.. do you notice market orders, market limit orders or another?

Great presentation Jack thank you. Just a question comes to mind on selling. There seems to be a contradiction between pyrimiding into to a position ($50 x 100 shares example) and selling a portion of shares when you're up 3 to 5 times your risk. Or maybe I'm missing a key point here. Thanks again for your great videos.
@JackCorsellis Жыл бұрын
You're welcome, Tim. My own view is it depends how the stock plays out and likely if it's a 'top idea' or a run-of-the-mill swing trade to use Oliver's terminology. Personally, I like to mitigate risk/freeroll, then look for an add.

since you are using trading view, what is the best way to setup your scanner identify such setups used by Oliver, which are basing out and have pulled back from their highs before they could make a potential second move?
@JackCorsellis Жыл бұрын
I mainly use my own scanner, MarketSmith and TC2000 as I don't think scanning on TradingView is the most efficient way. However, in the TV scanner you could set the criteria to look for stocks above key MAs and are up >X% in a given time period, plus have a reasonable avg volume for liquidity reasons. No magic pill though.

Hello, I don't quite understand the Wedge Drop. Does it require the price to drop below the 10EMA, 20EMA, and the 10EMA to drop below the 20EMA to be considered a Wedge Drop? Is it enough for the price to drop below the 10EMA for it to count as a Wedge Drop or need to drop below the both 10EMA and 20EMA? Also, does the wick need to break through, or is it the body that needs to break through?
