I love The Word but they tried to make Oliver Reed look like an old, out of date drunk, and in truth he has more class than Terry Christian could ever have.

They interviewed him again around 1994 and they asked him if he was scared when he fell off a boat into the sea and he replied 'no-one wants to be shat out by a sardine, Richard'.

Reed, is worth something. The ephemera of the broadcasts that continually attempted to dethrone him, are not.

The "The Word" clip was shocking. His engagement there was purely to make a mockery of him.

I think Ollie deals with it ok. BTW, Ollie at 1m52s is pure class. Like people have said, he played up to the drunk image all the time.

Richard and Judy, the second interview didn't have a clue in giving Oliver a decent question, Reed loves talk g about certain things, not the crap they asked him,if they had asked about his early Hammer horror films, then his ,biautiful house he had Surrey and the Isle of white, or ask him about Ireland,,they didn't have a clue, no wounder he started getting vindictive.just to Brighton up the proceedings .still we who have tuned in all love Oliver for what he is , one of the greatest entertainers in the world,.

Bill Hicks looks uncomfortable seeing a fellow alcoholic being made a mockery of. I remember it when it was broadcast. I like his This Morning interview though.

I've read that Oliver Reed just act that he was drunk on The Word, and that the bottle of Whisky in his room was filled with water. I don't know if it true or not. But anyway, Olli was an amazing man.

He did used to act drunk on TV... When he actually wasn't.... He was a amazing actor that played up to the hype.... If you wanna see a real drunk on TV look at interviews with George best..
