Hi Olly! Great video and commentary! I remember horse riding around Crook Peak area before the construction of the noisy M5! Good stuff! Keep on doing what you are doing! 👍

Olly, good to be back at it and spreading the wings a little further😊 Early starts are great to have somewhere all to yourself👍 There is something really cool about having a platform like KZbin where you can share interests and passions and gravitate towards others who share and get those interests and passions. Agree that overcoming fear and being willing to taking risks, whatever the outcome, is the only way to get to know if something is for you or not. A lovely day and a lovely walk through all that beautiful countryside you have access to😊

It's brilliant you can travel again now and I intend to make the most of the returned freedom. It looked a canny walk, although it such a shame about the Ash dieback and the resulting worked needed. Yeah, a car is only a tool for me, a necessary one but I enjoy hiking so much more and I so lucky to have Mrs Metalman to share things with, it's so much harder for people who live on their own. My brother lives in South Wales, moving down from Durham about 30 years ago and he loves it down there. cheers Alan

Hi Alan, Glad to hear you intend to make the most of it. There are still some who won't and also those who perhaps take it a bit far. We each make our own choices. Glad to hear that your brother enjoys South Wales - a long way from home but probably 5 degrees warmer for the most part. ;-) Hope you have a good weekend and all the best.

Hi Malcolm, I do like to hear from local people who recognise the area - I also try to figure out where others are in their videos. ;-) Hope you're keeping well. I imagine you might be back out with the volunteers very soon? All the best.

Enjoyed this Olly. I was up on Wavering Down few days ago and I definitely missed it! I'm an introvert- if people at my work knew I made videos ,they wouldn't believe it! The quiet one ,putting videos online , no way hehe. Can't explain why I like doing it , just do. I might be moving back to wsm soon ,never though I would but I do like the countryside around it. Take care

Thanks, Shirley. I enjoyed your video on Wavering Down. I know what you mean about other people's perceptions. Wherever you end up living, I hope you find a good home for you all. All the best and have a good week.

Great walk Olly. We still haven't had the chance to walk that part of the Mendips yet but hopefully will soon. We went to Dolebury Warren & Rowberrow woods last weekend. It wasn't busy at all & we had a lovely time.🙂🙂
@WalksWithOlly3 жыл бұрын
Hi Martin, I hope you do get there soon. It's not usually too busy - except around Crook Peak, which I think you've done. Enjoyed your video last night and glad you had a good walk. All the best and thanks for watching.

Thanks, Scot. It was quite warm by the end of the walk. A sign of things to come, or so it seems! Hope you have a good weekend and thanks for watching.

Afternoon Olly, loving the lockdown mop! Looking sharp! 🧑❤👍 Isn't it good to get up a hill! Smashing looking wall this, really nice to get some height. Useless info of the day our friend just started working at Hinkley Points, fire safety works. Smashing looking walk, loved the rocky out crops, ideal for a brew! And a sneaky hill fort too, happy days ❤🏛 Well done on sticking to the early starts, always nice to get your feet up on the afternoon maybe with a naughty treat or two! 🌭🍝🍨 loved the explanation on the extroverted and extroverts, we have been meeting friends again last few weeks and are finding it tiring tbh, it reintroduction to socialising and actually being around people. Stay safe and well, Ceri and Kat ❤🏕☕👍 P.s good luck with the future move, do you have transferable skills? You can do it! I'm sure you would be an asset anywhere you turned your hand too 🤗🌞❤

Evening, Ceri and Kat! Glad you enjoyed the video. One good thing about the construction of HPC is that it is providing jobs for many people and I see no danger of that being lost during this pandemic. Having lived quite local to it, the changes that have been put in to support it and the workforce are staggering - from on-site accommodation to new roads, petrol stations and even Park and Ride areas specifically for Hinkley Point! I've managed to meet up with friends now three times since things were relaxed a bit. It seems like I'm not the only one finding it quite hard after so long - I didn't realised until I watched another video earlier but Lockdown 3.0 was the longest of them all. I still prefer the idea of walking with people than plainly meeting up outdoors just because we can. Thank you and I hope you both keep safe and well through whatever's next. :-) By trade, I'm a carpenter and furniture maker (very transferable). Although I'd quite like to try something else... All the best!

Nice! Just finished this walk last week in the east direction. We did it in 3 parts over 3 days with Priddy in the middle. We diverted down Ebbor gorge just before Wookey Hole which was great. Great vid 👌

Thank you, Lee and glad to hear you've experienced the Mendip Way. I imagine you had great weather for it. Ebbor Gorge is definitely worth that detour! Hope you have a good weekend and all the best.

@@WalksWithOlly the only downside is I didn't pack enough suncream and got caught out a week ago on the last leg into Wells! Looking forward to seeing more videos from yourself!

Ah, that April Sun - I'm sure many others have been caught short already this year. Thank you, I'm hoping to get out and film this weekend... Then I need to do another leg along the Mendip Way. Have a good one.

Lovely walk Ollie.....shame about all the felled trees in the Kings Wood area, its happening all over the UK at the moment. Will take many years to restore.
@WalksWithOlly3 жыл бұрын
Indeed, Dave. Local councils are making efforts to plant many new trees and "rewild" places. But as you say, it'll take decades - perhaps even a Century - to replace what we are losing. I hope that ash somehow survives or evolves as a species. Among other things, it's a beautiful timber to work with. Thanks for watching amnd for your comment. All the best.

A pleasant walk Olly. I think we're all looking for resonance with other people - our tribe if you know what I mean. You're talking a lot more now than what you did when I first placed the camera on you on the Black Hill a few years back now. I'm happy I did that almost against your will - I've clearly helped you. Maan, can't stop you talking now. FREEDOM! Well, take care out there. If you fancy it I have a video of a fantastic waterfall uploaded. All the best. Here's to more talking. Mark
@WalksWithOlly3 жыл бұрын
Hey Mark, Always good to hear from you. While I was editing this one, I felt concerned that I was talking too much and that it would be offputting for someone after a different type of video. Honestly, I'm a lot chattier by myself and with a camera than I am around or with any other person or people. Meeting up with you has definitely helped. I know we'll talk soon and I look forward to that. All the best
