I love everything about these scenes with RH and KA. Howarth is so good here, he breaks my heart. He tells Starr just enough for her to understand that Blair has really hurt him but not enough so that he will turn Starr against Blair. I will forever miss RH's Todd Manning.

carringtongrace 73 & this is why I had a hard time with TSJ's time as Todd. Granted I know it was the writers but here he says he'll always forgive her & as a baby he promised her no matter what she did, he wouldn't make her feel worthless but after RH left & they had Starr get pregnant, that seemed to be forgotten.

Leslie - I only watched OLTL sporadically once RH left so I can't really have an informed opinion on TSJ although what I did see of him didn't impress me. He seemed very stoic where as Roger is incredibly expressive. One day I may muster up the courage to watch more of TSJ's Todd, I kind of feel bad for him. He had huge shoes to fill, it wasn't his fault that RH chose to leave, he maybe would have been a better fit for another character on the show but not Todd. Roger was Todd to me. I think that people who were around for RH's Todd believe that to be true but for the ones who only know TSJ's Todd, they can't imagine RH being him. Strange how that works.

+Leslie IKR? I will never forget the scene where TSJ (the Pod Todd) tracked down a pregnant Starr and Cole to some off-season seaside resort, and Todd pushed Starr so that she fell down the stairs, w/o even stopping in his hot pursuit of Cole. Anyone with insight knew that the real Todd could never have done that--never. Given the tender and protective way RH Todd felt about his little girl? Not a chance. I noticed someone else made the same observation in a way earlier comment, and I was glad to see that other viewers thought the same way. The writers REALLY dropped the ball in that whole badly thought-out, Pod Todd storyline. I never bothered to write them fan mail or nasty-grams, but I hear that some viewers did, so it might've been a good idea, IF they cared how the viewers felt.

+carringtongrace, you are so genteel, saying TSJ seemed stoic. "Way shallower" (than RH) comes to my mind. I'm not saying TSJ couldn't act at all, but he seemed decidedly uncomfortable when his role departed from the safe bounds of a macho, action-figure character and dropped him into an emotional scene where he had to expose his vulnerable side. This is why I'm not convinced that TSJ had the dimension needed to (credibly) portray the painful and complex process of redemption. Where RH could play ANY aspect of Todd's character convincingly. In fact, there was a time when RH himself doubted that such a redemption could ever happen in the real world, but he had to mature and evolve enough to believe that, and in turn, make us believe--with every tortured step of his journey past his self-condemnation, toward confronting his personal demons and to a gradually acquired acceptance of what he could not change about his past. There *was* some profoundly insightful writing in that show at times!

fancifulfilly - Your take on TSJ is really interesting. I have to admit that I didn't really watch OLTL after Roger left the show, just caught it here and there so I feel like I can't make an informed opinion on him. Maybe they should have left him as Walker, he had really big shoes to fill. I kind of feel bad for him as it wasn't his fault that Roger decided to leave the show. I did hear that Todd pushed Starr down the stairs though. I may have to try to find that scene. You are totally right, Roger's Todd adored his Starr and I can't see him every being cruel to her. Roger can totally let himself feel and his Todd was not afraid to expose his vulnerable side. He only did that to a handful of people but he did. I so loved Roger in this role. Great to talk to another Roger/Todd fan!

He obviously had no understanding of the character. He played him so coldly with no empathy. In my opinion he was totally unlike the original Todd. Attracted to his own daughters? There was no reason for him to put that interpretation on it. That was contrary to everything Todd had shown as a father. In fact Todd's shock and revulsion and hearing about Vicki being abused by her own father should have been a clue on how to play that.

I loved Todd no matter who was playing him. Trevor did the best with what he was given. He's an actor, he had no control over what the writers did. And at least he was committed to portraying Todd no matter what, and that's one thing he had over Roger. Maybe if RH cared more about the fans to stick around, then Todd's fate wouldn't have been twisting in the wind and a recast wouldnt have been necessary.
@joyjohnston2367 жыл бұрын
RH left the show because the FV and RC the new writers after Ms. Nixon retired... He was very unhappy about the direction they were taking Todd's story... matter of fact so was I and many other OLTL fans back then... The history of Todd under the new writers was pretty much forgotten it was really unfair to RH and to his fans!

I agree I prefer OG Todd, but TSJ deserves his flowers too he helped keep the story going forward. Fans can be so harsh, we accepted him when before RH came back so he doesn't deserve the hate.
