Do I see a broadcasting career in the future for Nick "The Kick" Symmonds..... NBC color commentator for the US Olympic Trials....later the Olympics themselves...thumbs up if you feel me!

At 3:36, something very important happens. Hocker is trying to get set up for his final kick, but there is a problem. The leaders are two across going into the turn. Hocker has to decide whether to move to the outside and add distance or slot in behind Nuguse and risk getting blocked if the second place runner can hang on. He has to decide what to do in an instant. If you watch carefully, you can see that the second place runner takes a little glance back and looks pretty distressed. Hocker realizes that Nuguse will pull away and he can follow him then swing wide coming off the final bend. This decision allows him the best chance to win the race. Very good tactics from a young runner!

Wow didn’t realize that but that’s a very good point. He’s becoming a master tactician!

Well… Pre was a front runner and always pushed the pace, and notoriously hated tactical kicking race. Hocker may take the race from the gun, but he’s pretty reliant on a kick.
