But I'm into figure skating and I'm obsessed with Nathan since his first senior season. World figure skating has never had such an athlete. Nathan won all competitions (except one SA) in the last 4 years ! I have been watching figure skating since the late 1960's ... Someone who is not on the topic may not be able to imagine what it means to achieve 113.97 in Short Program and 335.30 Total Score .... :)

I love that he recognizes his mom, is proud of both his American and Asian heritage, has an innate humility while still knowing who he is and having the confidence to shine on the world stage. Obviously he is an amazing athlete and an extremely intelligent person. Those qualities are only outshined by his wonderful personality. Again, congratulations, so, so proud of you and happy for you. Good luck with anything you undertake in the future!

Congratulation Nathan! Thank you from bottom of my heart for your dedication, preservation, loyalty and hard working! We love you ❤️ Both my daughter and I started ice skating since Covid-19. Thank God we both are still in one piece😂 In addition to skating, he competed in gymnastics at the state and regional levels for seven years and previously trained in ballet with Ballet West Academy. Nathan entered his first figure skating competition in 2003. Nathan is the 2022 Olympic Champion, three-time World champion (2018, 2019 & 2021), 2022 Olympic team silver medalist, 2018 Olympic team bronze medalist, 2017 Four Continents Champion, three-time Grand Prix Final Champion (2017-2019) and a ten-time U.S. national champion (2017-2022 in senior, 2012 & 2014 in junior and 2010 & 2011 in Novice). Also Nathan is a student at Yale University. He is such a humble, talented, gifted, down to earth, optimistic, easy going, artistry, loyal, legendary figure skater and human being.

He hasn't one more thing to prove. He skated the two most technically difficult programs in Olympics history. He changed the sport and won the gold medal in the Olympic Games. His legacy is intact. Now he has the opportunity to make his mark doing other things. I would be thrilled if Nate moved on.

Quit while you're still ahead and leave a solid and brilliant legacy behind you. In two years, after graduating from Yale, I hope he'll continue his post graduate work and then his Ph. D. In one interview, he said he would always stay in touch with his sport and probably would return in the future in some other capacity. That's exciting.

He's very humble and so down-to-earth. Representation is very important, I agree. Do athletes usually train years for the Olympics or is him focusing on school and waiting couple years normal for athletes? It would be great if he could go to the Olympics again or in general other competitions but doesn't seem like that is on his mind right now, rightfully so.

@@anyone1111...right? We all have different ethnic backgrounds but whether we're of Chinese descent, korean, Japanese, English, German, Irish, different nations from Africa, etc, etc,...we're all Americans. It's so weird when people act like Nathan isn't "real american" just because he's of Chinese descent. Like, WTH. There is no "standard" American because this country was originally and always a country of immigrants from all corners of the world.

@@divinearia1601 exactly! Like I understand the comment wasn’t rude but if it was in real life, it would be very disrespectful. So it shouldn’t be said online either but at least the person was nice. But you are right. America is known as a melting pot, so to say that someone who is Asian isn’t straight up american, is wrong. Doesn’t matter the ethnicity. When you’re raised/ have grownup/ moved in America, you are American. No matter the race or religion or ethinicty.

Yeah extremal long traveling distance. That speaks a lot about how unfriendly a place like Salt Lake city is (don't be fooled by its glory of hosting the 2002 Olympics) lots of Hispanic people live there and anti Asian - horrible place to live, poor infrastructure, downtown area looks like a ghost old hack, nobody cares to have it upgraded. They only want to move to Lehi or South Jordon, white men areas LOL, to get away. The magnitude of a mom trying to overcome the odds to offer her son a better resource is amazing.
