Thanks! Yeah, Mike has some great projects going and its been awesome watching his channel grow. Thats cool you have a custom built camper too, it seems like the best way to get a setup that works best for your own style of camping and traveling.

Is that 1”x1” square tubing you used for the framing? What’s the wall thickness? Looks great!

Hi, it’s been awhile but the tubing is 1 1/2” and I think 3/32 wall. No flex when walking on the roof 👌

Hi, no I didn’t use a filter for the welding shots but I bet using an ND 8 or 16 would be good for that.

What kind of bolts did you use to bolt the steel to the aluminum?

I used some large steel bolts and washers with a layer of sealant between the steel and aluminum to help with corrosion. I welded the nuts to the inside of the top frame so I could still remove the top (hopefully never!) Without taking the interior apart later. The underside of the frame also has a layer of 3M 5200 marine adhesive/sealant and that stuff is tuff!

@@OlympicOverland oh nice! That looks pretty sweet! Can you feel the difference with the top on as far as top heavy? I haven’t decided if I’m putting my military box on my Cummins or putting an axle under it for a trailer. I use my Cummins a lot around the homestead here! I’m honestly waiting to see how yours turns out and how you like it. 😆

@@9252LIFE So far it drives great and doesn't seem too top heavy. We just did an 800 mile trip with it and had it up to 80 on the highway a few times without issue. its heavier than before but still way lighter than any slide in camper.

Hi, its a Road Armor bumper from a newer Dodge that I made custom brackets for to fit my truck. It has a built in winch plate and is super solid! I show more bumper detail and fitting it in the previous build video part 2.
