About the "sentimental" scene in the very beginning - the author, Furudate-sensei, actually enjoys making fun of some common genre tropes a bit, and this could be called one of the examples x) Having third-years, who are about to graduate, have some really sentimental moments is a really common trope in sports anime, and third-years graduating is often treated as something close to tragic lol.

Seijoh is just a nickname for Aoba Johsai (the kanji for "Ao" can be pronounced as "Sei" too). Similarly, Dateko is a nickname for Date Kogyo or sometimes translated as Date Tech, that's the school with the eyebrow-less guy who beat Asahi in that game last season which made him drop out of the club. It's really hard to keep up with names sometimes, but you are 100% doing so much better than anyone else in their first watch.

The t-shirts Noya always wears have what's called a "4-character compound" on them, a type of very concise proverb in Chinese and Japanese. The easiest example to understand would be 一石二鳥 (one-stone-two-birds), but there are hundreds of others. Noya thinks they're really cool, and it's basically the only part of Japanese class he does well in. The one he's wearing this episode says 海千山千 (umi-sen-yama-sen, or sea-thousand-mountain-thousand), which means a great sage or powerful dragon--someone who's achieved greatness after training for a thousand years at sea, and a thousand years on land.

I love the little detail of when Kindaichi and Iwazumi are talking and Oikawa is in the back, sitting down relaxed, and actually yawning. But the second Hinata spikes the ball, he's up on his feet and has this smile and hungry look (couldn't think of a better way to describe it) like he wants to play against him that second. It's SO GOOD!!

I comment on a small piece of information.There is a scene where a player from another school mistakes Karasuno for Torino. This is because the kanji are very similar. Tori (Bird) = 鳥　Karasu(Crow) = 烏

i just know that kiyoko is going to ascend to god level when you learn a bit more about her. there are few female characters in haikyuu but they are as fleshed out as the boys and honestly. its going to be so refreshing to watch you get emotionally invested in the girls as much as you have been invested in the boys.

Aoba Josai and Seijoh are the same school. Sejoh is a nickname, I believe based on the characters that 'Aoba' and 'Josai' are spelled with. If it were an English name, we would call it A.J. or Ajay, but in Japan it's Seijoh. That is second-hand knowledge as my Japanese is terrible.

Yes, I think Daichi, Suga and Nishinoya are a bith harsher with Azumane because they feel like they need to keep him in check so he doesn't spiral too deep. Although Nishinoya is pretty blunt in general
