He ran a 19.78 in the 200m semifinal, though. And he was only jogging the last 20-30 meters. What if he had sped on? He would have been close to his world record. So he still had it in him. He was just tight in the muscels. I heard sth. about this German "miracle physician" Dr. Müller Wohlfahrt taking care of him during these Olympic Games.

@@neozyykun Try saying that to this year men 100 meters competitors, I was watching the Semifinals and Heats literally most of the competitors that came in 1st ran under 10 seconds believe it or not. Like Bro my guy Ronnie Baker ran a better time in the semi-finals then he did in the actual finals, if he would've ran a 9.83 in the Finals like he did in the semi he would've won atleast 3rd I think competitors dont care about energy anymore they just care more about getting that spot.

0:23 it is so funny to me how many times Usain has casually jogged through heats/semi-finals, this is the best one. Look how he checks to see that he's hovering around 4th so he pumps it up just a little bit and still isn't even fully sprinting, and jogs into 1st place from around 4th in the last 20-30m.

Always amazed me (almost more than his WR runs) how he would control his runs in the early rounds - just beating his opponents by enough, but not wasting any energy. Just looking around to see where everyone is while everyone is running for their lives. Incredible athlete

I dont think his main emphasis was setting world records....when he was a teen ru ming tracks it was always about having fun...sometimes a lil bit too much fun but when he became an adult he buckled down a bit and concentrated more and even decided to take on 100m which was never really his emphasis.

The only person that ever started better than Bolt (6.31 seconds 0 - 60m) is Su Bingtian (6.29 seconds 0 - 60m) and Su did not achieve this time until the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. @@anshumkathuria4587 -exactly! Loved the fact that it was so open. I think a lot of it was psychological. I LOVE Usain, but now he’s gone it’s less predictable and much more exiting. The times Usain ran weren’t all that fast, it was the fact that everyone seized up running ‘against’ - not how it works I know you just run your own race but that’s how it looked.

The reason top sprinters slow down is not to brag, it is to save themselves for the final sprints later on in the day. As exerting maximum effort in the heats could result in an injury.
