Paris is a totally different ceremony, original with the use of the Seine, the whole city and famous French things. It is nice that there are breaks between the long parade. They mention self that nothing could beat the Chinese ceremony which was extremely beautiful amazing.

In the beginning during the beating of the drums, the drummers were shouting a renowned phrase from Confucius, “It is always a joy to greet a friend visiting from afar.” As a Chinese descendent it’s quite a touching moment to witness this spirit of warmth n hospitality that has been in our blood for thousands of years. Also a feeling of gratitude that the wisdom of the sages from the past that kept the culture alive n going for thousands of years.

I am French. I watched the Beijing 2008 opening ceremony 16 years ago and was blown away. This one is still the best. I had to watch it again to purify my body and soul after watching a bit of the dreadful Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony.

Yes I feel very sorry. Looking at the Paris opening, it really makes me wonder whether French people even know their own history, intellect, and achievements anymore. It’s as if they don’t know the contribution they gave to the world, the enlightenment, humanism, romanticism, the fight against tyranny and for liberty. None of that was glorified in the opening ceremony. Instead, the opening ceremony might as well have been in New Orleans, USA. It was so Americanized it’s as if the French culture has been at least 80% invaded by American culture. It’s really sad to see. Everything “French” in the opening ceremony has been a stereotypical farce. After I saw it I no longer held unto my dream of wanting to visit Paris anymore.

I am a Chinese living in Paris. I was just glad that I didn't spend money on watching the ceremony on site while there was downpours raining. It was very funny to see though on Chinese social media, many Chinese people seem to like Paris ceremony and they gave all kinds of comments and analysis to it, saying which scene corresponds to which French film, or inspired by which artist, writer, etc. But to be honest, it still won't change the fact that there were too many LGBTQ+ contents in it. Moreover, many Chinese even mentioned that China is not avant garde as the French in this matter,totally ignoring the fact that as a traditional catholic country, France was not as this avant garde before the cultural intrasion of the US. It is sad that the French culture and all its heritage and contributions were not at all fully presented in the ceremony.

Why do you need to compare? Each of them is different and unique in a way also they are from totally different times...
