for macro, focus stacking is essential. I own couple of macro lenses and have never used it wide open. f/8 the widest aperture I have ever used on any of those lenses.

And for those using sane units of measurement: Waterproof to 15 meters. (I suspect 50 feet was rounded off from 15 meters, as Olympus is Japanese, and therefore uses metric)
