Thank you so much for making these very informative Q&A videos. I’m just starting to get into breeding. Purchased my first male and female this past week. I got the female as a hatchling, as a matter of fact she can’t even come home for another 3-4 weeks. And my male was born in late 2019 I believe. I wanted hatchlings for two reasons. One, I want to be able to raise her and make sure she is properly fed and healthy as well as has a good temperament. I want to condition her throughout her life to be able to breed healthy babies. I also want to be able to have this time to gather the things I need when I start breeding. So, right now I am watching several videos and also doing other research to learn as much as I can. You answered a lot of my questions. A big question I had was about incestuous breeding. I didn’t know if it would be ok and if it would cause problem and if you could do it at what point do you bring in an outside line and let me just say, you explained it flawlessly. It makes perfect since. Also the weight thing with both the male and female. And the sexing thing. I know what it looks like as far as whether it’s a male or female but had no idea about the sperm plug and how to tell if the male will be viable. I want to thank you so much for this video and want to request that you make a couple of other videos if you haven’t already done so. That is: a video listing every piece of equipment you need to have to have a successful breed, and what you need it for. What you need after you get the clutch, what you need while you’re raising the snakes to be conditioned like scales and racks and whatever else you need. Nutrients to feed the feeders that would be good for the snake to ingest. Just everything from A-Z that you need when you’re first starting out as a hobby to when you get bigger like to the point you’re at. I’d also like to request that you do a video explaining the ins and outs, the good and the bad about breeding. And how to build an incubator yourself for the eggs. What the best incubator will be and how to properly use it. I just want to learn everything I possibly can learn to be successful when the time comes in two or three year. I’d also like to see a video about your story. What got you started, what intrigued you the most about breeding ball pythons in particular. How did you get your start? Was it easy at first or did you struggle a little bit? What was the best thing that had happened with breeding and what is the worst? What was the most expensive snake you have bred and how much was it? How can you keep a hobby like this in the most cost efficient way? How did you become successful and when? How long did it take before you became successful? Again, thank you so very much for you informative videos. After I submit this comment I will be subscribing to your channel. I’m a big fan!

Ashley Livingston all spiders have a wobble, but in my experience the vast majority are very minor. A slight head shake when excited, or a bit if confusion with up and down when picked up. They all feed, poop, shed just fine. Quality of life is still as high as any other snake. I breed them, I love them! Every person has to decide for themselves (we actually talk about it in an upcoming video) but for me, I have zero issue with spider.

@OlympusReptiles2 жыл бұрын
I feed every week, an appropriate sized meal. I don't feed huge meals. Either works, some grow faster than others. Feed schedule does play a role. A lot of things you will hear are opinion based (1 or 2 week feeding, egg cutting, etc). Multiple ways work, and do what works best for you.

How many Locks should there be during that time? Also is there a certain point in time that the female goes off feed? I don't know for sure if the females stay on feed or if they go off feed. Also about how long before they lay eggs after you see the glow? These are the questions I have and also my concerns so if you could help out I would surely appreciate it, thanks.

Good video! I didn't know there were that many opinions on size for females. I'd always heard pretty consistently 1500 grams is breeding weight. That comment somebody made that they don't have scales in Africa is pretty hilarious! I recently saw a video of a big breeding facility in Africa and there are some breeders there who produce animals that blow most American breeders out of the water. There was this one snake that was such a high white Calico that it looked like it had Spider in it but it was just single gene Calico. Looked like it was sprinkled with snow 3/4 of the way up its body!

Anderson88G22 o think everyone gas to deal with a nite occasionally, and I wouldn't beat up xyzreptiles over it. Especially if you got it at a show, as that is one issue with shows. Someone handles a snake with mites (maybe so small the vendor didn't even know) then transfers them around. I like a product called nature's spray. It can be sprayed on the reptile, and isn't as hard as PAM. You have to treat like three times usually yo get them all, but they can be dealt with

? Is it bad for a female to be a breeder every single season or wold be good to give her a break THANKS 👽
@OlympusReptiles7 жыл бұрын
Depends. The best thing to do is monitor health and weight in between seasons. If a female doesn't put all her weight back on, good to give her a season off. If she did, I breed her. I have a female or two who seem to take the occasional year off if they want anyway, they just will miss that year on producing.

I’m a breeder from South Africa and the “no scales in Africa” comment had me rolling on the floor. 😂 We live in houses, like you, we have electricity like you, we have everything you have! But we have a first world country being run by a third world government ever since 1994. But....We also have Elon Musk, Charleze Theron, Trevor Noah, Dr Chris Barnard (who performed the worlds first ever heart transplant) so there’s that.... We also have game reserves where wild animals live, which you can visit because they DO NOT ROAM THE STREETS! 😂You can now stop living in the dark ages, because we don’t.

Dude, you took that completely wrong. No scales in Africa refers to the wild population of ball pythons. In the wild (in Africa where they are native) they are not getting on scales. Obviously, Africa is an entire continent. Some places are very well developed, others are not, like any other place. Wasn't a shot at any country, just in the wild they are not getting weighed prior to breeding.
