Can I just say - I've never owned a diesel mercedes (I'm more on the VAG side at the moment, still playing with PD engines) but your engines are the shiniest, prettiest things I've ever seen. I think it's because they're so purposeful - everything mechanically controlled, hardly any electrics, so you can see every single part working. True works of art.

Neat design using the cyclical motion of the oil against a sort of stator by the OEM. With modern materials/machining I wonder if you could make cams with a built in "screw drive" to aid moving fluid if the scalloping in the CNC'd body is not enough. Maybe add stator fins or baffles through the body too to get the same flow rate/pressure. Awesome work regardless.

The simplicity of a purely mechanical throttle adjustment can not be under estimated when it comes to drivability or safety. While electronic control is quick it inherently has lag. With proper care a mechanical adjustment will never fail. All the fuses could be open and the engine would still run and perform as required. The less we rely on electronics for engines the better. Sometimes we have too. But not for this.

Certain 4M40 Mitsubishis came from the factory with an inline P-pump. I might still have a brandnew one in my core-room. I can get the pump number if wanted. They can be fitted to a 4D56 or 4D56-T As for the WL, dont know of an inline pump for one but 12mm plunger head and rotors can be sourced for them.

@@matui6983 Hi. You wouldn't have a Bosch VE pump suitable for a Peugeot 505 turbo diesel would you? Mines got a Roto diesel pump. I'd like to improve the performance and believe the Bosch VE is a better pump to modify?
@matui6983
@matui6983 Жыл бұрын
Id be losing the Rotodiesel pump too. VE is a far superior unit. Bigger plunger can be fitted Higher lift camplate can be fitted BE pumps can come with aneroid or what we call a boost control. I may actually have a VE that could work for you but Im at the bottom of the world in NZ so the freight might be up there to get it to you. I used to replace a few DPS model pumps on Citreons and Peugeots. One of the VE's I did the swap with may work. Its 1:30am here and Im not back at my shop till 6am ish. But will def check in my little black book and on the shelf for you. At the least I could give you the model and all the numbers off a VE so you could possibly find sumthing.
@matui6983
@matui6983 Жыл бұрын
Is your Rotodiesel a 3 bolt triangular flange pump? Its most likely a DPC or DPS unit with 3 x mounting bolts. Your best bet may be to find a Citreon unit or later Peugeot unit. Want you want to look for are the following first numbers either stamped into the alloy pump body or could be on a plate rivetted to the pump body like CAV and Rotodiesel pumps. VE410F VE style/model 4 = 4 cylinders 10 is a 10mm plunger. If you find one with a boost control on it then all the better, but if not then a naturally aspirated pump can still be used, may just be a dirtier in the exhaust until you get up on boost.. No biggy here in NZ yet but in the UK they are no doubt a lot tougher on emissions. 10mm plunger will give you all the fuel you need. Driveshaft should be the same size as what you have so the drive coupling should go straight on. Inj pipes may need a tweak. And you will have to fit a boost reference hose from manifold to boost control ( if fitted) And throttle cable will need a bit of fettling possibly. When I get to the shop I will see whats hiding in the back room for you.
@leehodgson6132
@leehodgson6132 Жыл бұрын
@@matui6983 Hi. Yes, it's a 3 bolt flange fitting. As well as the Roto pump they used the VE pump so I was hoping as you have said, that the drive coupling would be interchangeable 🤞. All the rest I figured same as you except there appears to be a range of VE pumps and wasn't sure how to identify the most suitable for my engine. Thanks for the info on pump numbers. 👍. I'll send you a link to one listed on eBay from Latvia. Let me know if it's the right number or call park right and if you have anything. Cheers. Lee

@matui6983
@matui6983 Жыл бұрын
Pretty sure he mentioned 1000hp in the video and they have done videos of 800hp engines. I honestly thought the aim of the billet pump was that it was going to be used with 9.5mm, 10mm or 12mm elements. As well being stiffer, and possibly machined to better than Bosch tolerances. Bigger elements wont have to work as hard to produce the fuelling figures as smaller elements do. On certain marine pumps I run on my benches (for people with limited money) I can get 230hp from 8.5mm elements quite happily when the maker uses 9.5mm elements in the specified 250-300hp pump. Result? The 8.5mm elements have a shorter life.
@Canhead56
@Canhead56 Жыл бұрын
@@matui6983 i atcually got to that part of the video like a minute after i commented lol, still i believe he has said it before that the blocks r considerably more at risk when past 600 but i do agree larger elements would b beneficial with the applications u r talking about though i wonder why not just make an adapter for a P-pump ik people have done it before but why not in mass if larger elements would be so beneficial.
@matui6983
@matui6983 Жыл бұрын
In my storeroom of 100's of pumps Ive got one pump set aside one with 10mm elements, built in boost control plus external oil feed and is set at 550hp from the factory on a 12litre engine from memory, so on a OM606 God knows what it would/could produce. That removable front plate is really appealing to adapt the pump to a 606.
