Happy Birthday to a wonderful sweet lady. I thank you for inspiring me to prepare our favorite German recipes. As a child I lived up the street from my grandmother and often go just in time for supper. Oh how I loved her food. One day she asked me if I was hungry and of course I said yes. My Grandmother put a plate of food with a piece of german bread and butter. I didn’t know what she plated for me but it smelled so good. After eating it, I asked her Oma, what was that you gave me. She then said “brains”. I was about 8 years old I still remember that day like it was yesterday After I finished I went back home but I never forgot that day. I guess I was adventurous to taste different flavors of food back then and kept visiting my Grandmothers home and was always asking her what’s for supper. I have your recipe for the Oberstorten I keep it on the inside of my cabinet by my stove. You’re always with me ❤ Thank You for sharing such wonderful recipes.

Happiest of Birthdays to you Oma. My daughter turned 12 one day before you. I just wanted to let you all know that sharing your Oma with all of us has been so lovely. My Omi is gone now but every time I see you, I am reminded of her. Being in the kitchen with her was our time together. Just like you, her love language was to cook for us. I loved her with all my heart and still make a lot of the dishes she taught me but watching your videos has made me more confident with exploring my own heritage. Just like you, my Omi moved to a strange country and took it in her stride, keeping her heritage close so that we could learn from her. Thank you for being my surrogate Oma, it means so much to me.
