I live in Illinois, so that helped, but I was so into the Bears since then, my Sunday mood used to be dictated by the Bears win or loss. I'm a little better now, but my kids still wonder why I get so upset when the Bears lose. As far as my kids are concerned, the Bears have always been a loser team. They weren't even born during the 2006 season, the last time the Bears got to the Super Bowl.

McMahon really was a great quarterback. He set over 70 NCAA records. (I think he actually set a record for setting records.😅) If he had gone to almost any team other than the Bears, he'd have racked up a bunch in the NFL, too. Post retirement, Ditka finally admitted that he should have listened to McMahon far more than he did. Mac understood offense better than any of the coaches. Unfortunately for him, by the time he got out of town, he was so battered and bruised that he never reached his full potential. Such a shame...
