It didn’t go unnoticed by me that Omar is the one who built the room and enclosed himself in there (in a box) alone. Symbolic to the relationship. The glimmers of light shining through giving him hope. But even when it gets dark and things start to shatter he remains in the room. Just like a toxic relationship. The glimmer of light keeps us attached so long it isn’t until the damage settles and your left in ruins, that you can bring yourself to leave as you’re forced to realize there isn’t much remaining. This video is so complimentary to the song. I’ve definitely felt like this and envisioned myself this way. It’s like building a home within yourself and inviting the wrong person in. They tear your home apart, drive you so crazy you start doing the same to yourself. Being self destructive out of self hate, until one day they leave you in the mess they made of you. I can’t believe I’m just finding this song. I’m crying because this was really me 2 years ago. I was a mess. In love with a guy who did not love me back but was so manipulative I kept coming back, we moved in together and 2 months later he left me for someone else…I had never felt so low and hopeless, I cried myself to sleep every night and the pain got so bad I turned to drinking and partying to numb the situation. I realized that wasn’t going to work and moved out of state to start fresh. After some time I decided I wanted to date again and I met an amazing man who is so patient and loves me for who I am and would never change me. I am so grateful for making the decision I did. I know this song is about being in a relationship but I relate to this song because I went through a friendship breakup with someone who I would do anything and everything for them but after we stopped talking and they blocked me on everything.. it was sort of a gut punch because I was always there for them and I kind of lost my self in the process but then I realized that some friendships/relationships are a blessing or a lesson and I’m doing better now. ❤️
