What I've learned over the years of being a Fujifilm owner is to buy 2nd hand. Fujifilm users are notorious for GAS and you'll get bargain prices on used but excellent condition Fujifilm bodies and lenses. If a new model comes out, just wait for a month or two and it'll be on sale or used ones will pop up. Unless you just want to be "first" in the tech gadgetry, buying a few months later used will be a wiser choice no matter the model you're going to choose.

Exactly. And ignore the "is this or that camera good enough in this or that year" silliness. Most of the time- for your average shooter- YES of course they are! XT1, 2,3 can be had all for a figurative steal in great shape on ebay (well, actually at the time of this writing Nov.2020 prices on the XT3 have gone up a bit due to the recent firmware update, but still, $800 US can get you a fabulous XT3 body if you are patient. $5-600 for the XT2's and $300 or less for the XT1. IN good shape with low shutter counts from sellers with good feedback...just...wow. Right? Peace.

I built out my entire Fuji platform secondhand. Used XT2 and 18-55 kit at the end of 2018 for $750, used 16 1.4 and 23 1.4 found locally, used 56 1.2 from eBay in great shape, brand new in box 55-200 and 60 macro for almost half price from a Facebook group. Couldn’t be happier, one of the best value platforms on the used market.

Got into Fuji for small, high quality cameras and lenses but always missed an IBIS coming from MFT. Thinking about moving from the X-T3 to X-S10 now. IBIS is not just video, there is alot of photography where IBIS helps. From one handed snapshots of people to low light scenes without a tripod, or even just the easier composition with a stable preview (especially with that 90/2).

I sold my x-T3 for the x-s10, and I am in love. Let me count the reasons… 1. Smaller, lighter 2. IBIS 3. Flash on camera (comes in handy when you need it!) 4. Flip and tilt screen so I can see from any angle, including pointing to myself for travel selfies. 5. Custom settings - I love baking in a recipe for each custom setting. I just switch to one of those for what I need: low light, outdoors, etc. 6. That lovely grip! Every camera needs a grip. It’s silly not to have a grip IMO.

Dear Omar, I am so glad I stumbled upon your video, as this is exactly what I am contemplating between. I am a novice photographer, and I have enjoyed shooting with my X-E3 tremendously, and I also appreciate the style which makes it much more fun to use in my humble opinion. I am sure that I haven't yet utilized some of the features of my camera, however, it is getting both a little too used and mostly outdated. Since the X-T3 is now at the same price point as the X-S10, and both are somewhat affordable, I go back and forth without making a decision between the two. Overall, as a professional camera, I guess that the X-T3 has more value for money, and should probably be overall better - except for the IBIS, and unfortunately, the main issue that makes it difficult for me to go with the X-T3 is the lack of it. I shoot mostly stills, and I like to shoot indoors and sometimes in low light situations. I probably should mention that I enjoy shooting mostly on aperture priority, with a maximum of 6400 ISO and an automatic shutter speed. How much will I benefit from having IBIS? Other than that, the X-T3 is a no-brainer for me, it has mostly advantages over the X-S10. Thanks!

I have the X-S10 and as a night street shooter (stills), the IBIS is a huge plus for me. I shall keep my X-T3 for use with zoom lenses that have OIS and also to use with manual focus lenses, since it has such a nice EVF to use for focusing. But the little X-S10 has one me over. As an aside, I'd like to say that you are one funny guy Omar and I love watching you amuse yourself as you pull faces and make gestures at your video monitor. You could have more fun than anyone I know by simply locking yourself in a room with a mirror.

Hi Omar. I’m an old retired pro and longtime Fuji user. I own an X-T4, X-T20 and an X-S10. I used the X-S10 very little as it was just my backup camera and I had only mildly positive feelings about it. But recently, my workhorse X-T4 became unavailable, and I was forced to use the X-S10 a lot. An amazing thing happened: The more I used it, the better I liked it! Now that my X-T4 is back, I’m choosing to use the X-S10 much more. I find the ergonomics, especially the grip, smaller size and lighter weight to be more important to me. The looks, control scheme and weather resistance much less so. I think that had you used the camera more than just a couple of days the tone of your review of the X-T10 would have been more positive. Change is difficult for everyone, Omar, even for youngsters like you 😁

Very new to XT3 and loving it! the retro-look is what I am used to! One comment - I am an older shooter who is tiny with size medium kids hands so the grip is absolutely perfect for me! I have never seen a KZbin that mentions this! But by the way, hand size and strength are critical considerations. From expensive experience I know that it absolutely does not matter how popular camera is, how a camera looks, how brilliantly it performs or even how inexpensive it is - if I can't heft it around easily, because of the massive (big guy) grip, it still stays stuck in my bag. So while I am beginning to really a lot about the XT3, it was definitely the smaller (not one size fits all) ergonomics to take a second look!

Omar. You aren't just a little shallow. I've seen deeper dew on a warm summer morning. 🤣 I have the X-T4 for heavy duty work (with a Smallrig grip attached that overcomes the lack of a grip on the camera) and the X-S10 has just arrived for use as a carry round, street, and for the other stuff like landscapes when I don't want to carry my full kit. I don't care about the looks. Build quality is important and both have it in spades with the weather proofing caveat between them. The truth is they are, for a lot of work, interchangeable because they produce the same image quality. Having, briefly, had an X-T30 I find the viewfinder on seems X-S better. The spec may be the same, I think the quality of the panel may well be better. It certainly seems crisper. Really comparing the 30 and 10 is like comparing apples and oranges. Because of the weight, ergonomics and IBIS. The screen is a bit of a side issue. If I was moving to Fuji or upgrading, unless I needed weather sealing and two card slots or to mostly keep the 100-400 on the front, I'd go for the X-S10. Really great camera and with a lot energy and enthusiasm building behind the Fuji range as a whole I think it is a classic in the making.

@parasharkchari
@parasharkchari 4 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I find the "seeing the settings" point you raised to be an argument for ease of use. When the dials are blank, you basically have to remember what they mean by memory and remember how you customized them based on which mode you're in. And this is a pain in the neck for an occasional user like myself who will use their nice camera only for events which don't come by every day and can't remember how I've set it up after weeks or months of not using it. I remember doing a birthday shoot with my EM-5m2 and while I love the camera and its IBIS is pretty much the work of the gods... I couldn't even remember how I'd customized the dials or the menus or where the self-timer settings were... The thing I love about Fuji's retro layout is that the things I monkeyed with most (namely exposure-related settings) were there and plainly visible without having to remember "Oh, I'm in Aperture Priority mode, so this dial does X and that dial does Y"...

My first Fujifilm camera was the x-t20. Then i discovered just how EXPENSIVE the Fujinon lenses were. So I got a collection of vintage lenses. Downside: No stabilization. Then I heard of and bought the x-s10 for its IBIS!!! Since I hadn't really LEARNED the x-t20 'Fuji-ness' it was easy to switch. I did learn enough to make the x-s10's dials do what I needed. The Q-menu with touch is a lifesaver. For anyone wanting Fuji greatness without the looks, the x-s10 with IBIS is the way to go IMHO. IBIS makes low-light situations a little less daunting. If my path is true then x-t20 > x-s10 > x-t4. ("I can dream, can't I?")

IBIS is much more important when you get older and you find your hands becoming more tremulous. I find it works brilliantly to compensate for the shakes. Nearly every new camera irrespective of make seems to include IBIS nowadays and this surely is an indication of how manufacturers are now realising photographers consider its inclusion of real important.

Well, this very much depends on your preference for how you operate your camera... the biggest change being the PASM dial being necessary on the canon, and not on the Fuji. After using the Fuji, and simultaneously a Nikon with a PASM dial, I have to wonder why that dial has had such a prominent unchallenged life on so many cameras... it’s useless, and has premium placement...! That aside, and i know this is somewhat biased - Canon is still finding ways to cripple their new cameras, leaving obvious features out, as just to charge you later for a new camera... I don’t condone or support this sort of strategy myself, so for that reason alone Canon is out of my mind for purchases.
@Snickers_GLNY
@Snickers_GLNY 4 жыл бұрын
@@mortenthorpe Thank you for your comments. I shoot mostly landscapes in manual. I have no need for the PASM dial at all, except when shooting a "snapshot" of my dog or other family member. I'm currently shooting an older Canon with miserable dynamic range and the weight of a brick at minimum. So basically looking for a few things, dynamic range, weight reduction, and old school dials where I can access desired settings. I have no use for video at this point so that function on any camera is moot. I think that the Fuji fits all of my requirements. As far as Canon is concerned, I am aware that they hold back on features in the hopes of enticing someone with shiny object! I don't see that with Fuji in that they provide seemingly constant updates to their lines. Again, thank you... I am pretty much sold on the Fuji.

I liked your review. As an ADD photographer this was the best review I’ve seen so far. I have been in photography since 1977 when I lived in Japan. However, with ADD I have for years gotten overwhelming with details in search for the perfect picture. I get so focused on the camera and settings I miss the location and light I’m trying to capture. You make an extremely compelling argument for both cameras. By the way I’ve heard the problem of competing stabilization when using both in body and external stabilization. You option was good to reinforce this point is still alive. Great review

I think I would like the ergonomics better on the XS-10. Also, I think the XS would be faster to operate. I don't care about the old school dials although I appreciate where you are coming from. I learned on a Pentax K1000 so I understand. Lastly, I'm a Nikon user but always liked the Fuji colors and would use the XS-10 for family outings or travel. I wish it had dual cards to use as a backup on jobs.

I have the x100v (love it), and the X-T3, which I also love. Came over to Fuji after years of shooting with a long line of Nikon cameras (D7100, D750, D810, Z7, Z6ii). I like the smaller size and weight of the Fuji cameras and lenses, and now have the wide angle lens adapter for the x100v, and for the X-T3, the 18-55mm, 35mm prime, 50mm prime for portraits, and just this week my Tamron 18-300mm for Fuji cameras arrived. Talk about a great travel/vacation lens! Is it needle sharp like my primes? Probably not, but pretty darn close. Close enough to carry around when I know I'm going to be shooting from fairly wide to VERY long telephoto subjects. It's a little heavier than the 18-135mm Fuji lens I sent back, but doesn't feel as heavy as the 55-200mm Fuji lens I sold to get this one. I'm a happy shooter now.... And by the way, I love having the dial on the X-T3 and miss it on the x100v. Had one on the x100f, but wanted the new lens and tilt screen on the v, so.... Love these Fuji products....

I’m a sports photographer, and I use the Fuji x-t3 with a battery grip and the 55-200m lens. I love the vintage dials bc of the accessibility of it! I can just adjust the shutter, and iso outside of the menu, so I don’t have to waste time going into the settings menu and adjusting it like my old Nikon. And idc about ibis since I use a stabilized lens. I definitely would upgrade to the x-t4 but for now this is the perfect camera for both photos and videos!

For video shooters, I think the XT3 is a fantastic camera, but...you are tight to only OIS Fuji lenses and you need a gimbal anyways. The XS10 gives you more flexibility with the IBIS and OIS lenses. But this is my humble "real world" thought

I’ve owned the X-T1, X-T2 and the X-T20 and loved them all, but my first X-T camera was the X-T100 which is the only Fuji camera I still have. I am thinking of getting either the X-T3 or the X-S10 so this video is perfect - and it’s not the first time I’ve watched it either! The X-S10 has some similarities to the X-T100 with the PSAM dial for example so that would not bother me. The screen on the X-T100 is the best of both worlds as it flips up and down like the X-T3 screen but also can be turned to face you like the X-S10 (but does not swivel in that position) so neither the X-T3 nor X-S10 scores maximum points for it’s screen. I’m not so wedded to the Fuji dial layout on most XT cameras as you are Omar but having owned the X-T2 I can appreciate the beauty of the X-T3 and that EVF!. But that grip, the IBIS, the smallness - those features are calling me to the X-S10!!
