Many people here are discussing the Orz's cuteness and playful demeanor vs their likely Eldritch abomination nature. What if their playful nature is NOT an act? What if Orz is not just a single being as they say, but a single juvenile, basically, a child Cthulu? Their behavior reminds me of what a little boy on a meadow might do, catching grasshoppers, lizards, etc. (I did that as a child), perhaps hurting a few of them, not due to malice but due to ignorance. He might even wonder what grasshoppers taste like and eat one of them (like Orz did with Androsynth). This brings the terrifying question - what if Orz's mom and dad come to our universe?

It's heavily distorted, but once the Arilou tell you of the threats you find in \*pretty space\*, it's clear that the Orz are not hiding much: they found a way in through the Androsynth, and are absolutely delighted to find you and your species, as they believe they can spread further into our reality through us. They reveal other important details, like them all being the 4D \*fingers\* of a single being, unlike humans who are "many bubbles". They're not forthright in what it means for you to be a *camper*, but you can't tell if they know that'd be an important detail to you that they're withholding, either.

My theory is that as the Arilou explain, they work on changing an individual human *smell* through genes/experimentation so they're blanketed from ever randomly coming across the outside forces. I think the Andross being all clones might have something to do with 'em being subverted all at once. Like that scientist who ranted that *Them* were aware of him, he'd be a lightbulb compared to a giant lighthouse with the Andross. So the Andross's physical space is now occupied by Orz as its "fingers".

You're on the right track. Orz is a trans dimensional entity that resides outside our dimension. So compared to us, It is a god. Similar to how we are a god compared to bacteria. However ",bubbles" does not refer to atoms. It refers to people. You, your mom, and dad are 3 Bubbles. Or 3 separate entities. That's not the case with Orz. All the Orz you see are not individual sentient beings. They aren't a hive mind like Star Trek's Borg. They aren't even a "They" Orz is an It. Nazrin The Thief Well if one doesn't study the Orz much or look at all the dialogue that occurs, I could see that being someone's initial impression (or possibility), but if you consider that in game they don't actually fight you if you do the parties (as far as I know? _I haven't actually played!_ ). They only fight you if you anger them such as by asking too much about the Androsynth. Because of this it seems very unlikely that they're looking for a fight. Not to say that what they want isn't something creepy or harmful, I just think that it's not direct combat.

The Orz are really a very cool race. They're really very friendly and quick to try to prove that they belong. They just want the dimensional residents of the material plane to stay within the boundaries of their reality (happy campers) so that none of the others from outside can join the Orz in this reality. The Androsynth opened a door that let the Orz through, and I suspect the Orz came through as refugees, fleeing from something. Nothing they can do in the game suggest that they were what "took" the Androsynth, they just filled a vacuum left behind by whatever did take the Androsynth. think the Orz is holding the passage the Androsynth opened blocked so nothing else can follow it from "outside" and he is trying to discourage curiosity about the Androsynth to preventi anyone else from opening the same kind of door and letting something even worse through (like the things that hunted or hurt the Orz in its home dimension).

It's basically confirmed that the Orz *fingers* we see are a different manifestation of the "them" that Burkowski ran afoul of on Androsynth planets. I can't believe I don't see more people talking about this, but here goes: Orz is an emote. I legit saw people saying this emote as an emote and they had no clue it was used as the name of a race in Star Control 2. The emote roughly means faceplant, or to bow in apology. Well, what does the Orz tell us about it? That it is reaching into our space and it manifests as "many bubbles" but it is actually "fingers". It's almost as if the creature has bent over and is simply reaching into our space with tentacles.

***** Sorry, I know it's a months late reply, but I feel like I should point something out. The Androsynth were enslaved initially by the Earthlings, I believe that they are in-fact clones, there's some mention of that in-game. They have a fairly good reason to be space-douches. Also, I think the Orz is just one being with the ability to project itself into multiple places at once. It's in the dialogue, as well: "...I am Orz. I am one with many *fingers*. My *fingers* reach through into *heavy space* and you *see* Orz *bubbles*."

Until now the Arilou always 'got in front of them' they couldn't have 'any fun' they're predative I have no doubt of this, they're so merciless in ship to ship combat, the andross must have resonated access to their dimension and they've capitulated the opportunity, to steal the andross tech and use it to get themselves out into ourspace.
