Honestly, I'll never understand this need some people have to criticize things other people buy. So what it's a quartz watch? If it were the junk some people say it is, Omega wouldn't bother making them in the first place. Yes, they discontinued those but for different reasons, I'm sure. It's annoying to see the amount of crap people say. Battery leak? Even if does happen, replacing the whole quartz movement wouldn't be that much more expensive than full servicing an auto, if at all... Love autos, can spend a good part of my day just watching my autos run cause you know engineering behind the movement. However, I'm considering buying a pre-owned SMP quartz for everyday use. Have you had any issues with yours or regretted not going for the auto? Nice video btw, thanks for uploading. Cheers, mate!

I wanted a quartz specifically and its difficult to find a high end watch with a quartz movement. I also love that Bond wore the Seamaster Pro 300m. A jeweler friend of mine advocates quartz movements b/c they are more reliable and low maintenance. So it was a no brainer for me b/c I could care less about the "tradition" of automatic movements. Plus, I don't typically wear my Omega everyday so not having to wind it and reset the time is a huge plus.

4 years on, I can say in the last 12 months my 2007 Quartz 300M lost only 8 seconds. I've web it everyday for 11 years.

I got this one for my 30th birthday too! ;-) Yes, quartz vs. mechanical, the discussion about it will never stop. I am happy that the value went up, though I won't give mine away what ever comes, it's my birthday gift and it is my first Omega!

Agree, it is a real beauty! It took me several years to get to the stage to get an Omega. Honestly, if you are a watch lover and you have not yet spend money on different less expensive watches, my advise, save a bit longer and you will get your Omega faster! Don't get distracted by cheaper offers (Certina, Tissot & Co.), save and get the 300M in quarz and I guarantee that you won't regret it! I love my 300M, it's the one I wear most!

Thank you very mch for your very positive feedback and comment! I appreciate it and I am happy that my video allowed you to make a decision to purchase this beautiful watch! It is very accurate, I did mention the results somewhere but in case it's not here, I ran a test with an atomic watch and after 1 full month the Omega was off with less than 1 second (around 0.67 sec.). And the quick-set hour hand is just awesome, especially for someone who travels a lot! I love this watch and wear it daily.

Thank you! The discontinuation has been discussed in multiple watch forums but until now I couldn't find an official statement from Omega. But I agree with this and you can see that they have upgraded the mechanical 300M with the ceramic bezel but they have not done so with the quartz one, therefore there won't be one coming! Unfortunately, so get one as long as you can!

Mate, I bought two Omega's at once (Seamaster AquaTerra 8500) and the 300M Quartz. There was no money left for the automatic version and looking back even if I did have the money, I believe the combination of automatic & quartz is great! When I have to run in the morning, I grab the 300M and it works. Perfect! I would love to have a vintage Omega wrist watch. I do own a vintage Omega pocket watch (check my channel), but I cannot wear it on a daily basis!

I have a quartz sea master. Now 11years old . Never missed a beat and so much more accurate than a mechanical. I love mechanicals but in the real world I want correct time or within a couple of seconds constant. Mechanicals, even good movements just cant do it. Also. real saturation divers would use a quartz by choice. Check out the Scurfa dive watch site for an affordable diver that has it all. Oh, and actually used at great depth by a professional saturation diver.

Nice video Sir. I got the exact same watch for my 30th birthday, it's an awesome watch. The cool thing is omega don't make the quartz version of this sea master anymore so it's gone up in value quite considerable which is rare for quartz watches.

Honestly, from all my watches the 300M quartz is the one I wear most of all! I just like the size, weight and look of it. I decided against the blue one because there were too many of them around (at least here in Dubai) and the black looked more luxurious and classy to me! I think a quartz needs to be in every watch collectors box, it is a great "grab-and-go" watch when you are in a hurry! I love my 300M!

Hi, the UVP (original retail price) for the Quarz 300M is Euro 1,800.00 and for the Automatic 300M Euro 3,200.00! So we are talking about 77,78% difference from the Quarz to the Automatic one!

Do you feel that it is big? After waering different Seiko's and my Certina the 300M seems actually smaller and less big to me. I actually wear mine to a suit nearly daily and it fits despite being a diver's watch!

Mate, whatever makes you happy! I own many watches with different movements and even though I love my Omega AquaTerra with the 8500 movement, the one I wear most is the 300M! Great review! There's so many geeky, boring reviews of watches but yours actually took me past the step of mulling over and I've agreed to purchase one. The quartz movement in this watch is by no means comparable to a cheap Casio like lots of people would believe. It's much more than that, and therefore much more accurate as a result. This may be 1 second off per month but a Casio could be 20secs! That's no to say I dislike Casio as I have MANY, but it shows the difference. The quick-set hour h

Well, this discussion will never end in the watch forums! Yes, it is battery operated, but there are advantages which an automatic can't have! But I love both for different reasons! I live my Aqua Terra with the 8500 caliber as much as I love this one with the quartz movement!

That makes me verry happy, exactly the reason why I made the review, to allow other watch lovers to make the right decision! In some time check out my review of the Seamaster Aqua Terra Chronograph with the 8500 caliber! That would be the next Omega to look for ;-)! No no, give it a year or two before the next one! But I am certain, the 300M won't stay alone for too long! cheers mate!

The automatic one is more expensive (nearly double) and you don't need to change the battery, but you need to service it more often and take good care of it as it is not as shock resistant (not direct hits, but for work that shakes the watch a lot or playing Golf and automatic watch is more likely to be affected than a quartz one).

Hello my friend, really great video, i have a question for you my friend, i recently received as a gift a Tag Heuer quartz from the 90s, it is in great conditions, and i have noticed 7 to 8 seconds lead in one month, my question is: is it ok for the years of the watch having those 7 to 8 seconds lead?? I ask you because in this link of Tag Heuer official webside, it says that their quartz movement is -1 +11 seconds per month: faq.tagheuer.com/articles/en_US/FAQ/What-is-an-automatic-movement/?l=en_US&c=Products%3ATechnical_Details&fs=RelatedArticle but i would like to know your opinion, thanks for your help my friend and i hope you can answer. cheers.

As per my information they stopped making this particular model end of last year. That said it doesn't mean that they don't have them all sold already. You still might be able to find a brand new one in the store, but the wave design dial is not made anymore by Omega. The new one doesn't have the wave design anymore.

Actually, I just tried it (I am wearing it right now) and it was very easy to do so! I will upload an new video and show it, I think I had clippery hands when I recorded this video. I believe the UVP (retail price) is something around Euro 1,900.00 at the moment, but this was like 6 months ago. Omega increases prices 1-3 times a year, so you better get one earlier than later. As well they have announced to discontinue the quartz models in the range!

Here we go, your 300M is the older version, therefore it looks different. But it shouldn't be just the back, it should be the dial and parts of the body as well! It looked completely different, like a cousin of the one I showed in this video. The new one looks a bit different as well, it has the liquid metal bezel which should be scratch resistent.

I have to admit, I am one of these "desk divers", I never use my watches for swimming or diving (the G-Shocks not taking into consideration). I get your point, with a divers suit and gloves it will be pretty difficult. Thanks for the advise, but no need to check out the Orange Monster, you can check my own review, I own both the Orange & Black Monster and love them too. Great value for money. I think I paid only Euro 130.00 for mine at the time.

Nice video! thanks. By the way does the bezel feel a little loose when you press it down gently? I suppose this is normal? I can feel the bezel on my one move downwards when i press it at certain points. thanks

What to do, somepeople just don't like certain things. I believe both movements have their advantages and disadvantages. And we should nto forget, automatic movements are usually much more expensive, in this case the 300 Automatic would be nearly double the price.

Well, mostly cars, but my other hobbies are watches, knifes, fish tanks and sometimes just anything in between that has nothing to do with cars. And yes, 12 min. is long, but I managed even to make one with more than 22 min. (though without realizing it until after the upload).

Will do mate, but you will have to wait one month exactly, or we check after 1 week and multiply it with 4x.

It depends on where you live. I would always buy from listed retailers, best is to check Omega's website and refer to their listed retailers.

I bought mine from a wonderful gentleman in the UK for $2500 USD, and the watch was a month old and in brand new condition... I believe I got a fantastic deal on the watch.

I believe they are still selling the 2220.80 and 2221.80 which is the quartz version and they both have the wave dials as well as the new ceramic bezel. There is a version that doesn't have the wave dial but you can still purchase models with the waves.

Same with me, but I have the Aqua Terra with the 8500. But for every day grab and go my 300M is the best!

I reckon you are the 149th person askign this question! The point is, to have a grab and go watch, which you don't need to wind it manually or in a machine. It's there, it's running, take it and go! Easy! ;-)

It is beind discussed in various watch forums that Omega is dumping the quartz movements completly (at least in the gents watches) to have all movements done in house (like 8500). Omega is trying to go more upscale and catch up with Rolex and quartz movements are counter-productive for this attempt. Unfortunately this means that Omega becomes less affordable in the future. I don't think that the quartz 300M's will increase value beacuse of this, but I think they will stay the same!

Well, this particular one is already out of production, they do the new one with the new bezel that reminds me of the Liquid Metal look of the Planet Ocean. But you should always be able to find a used one in a good condition. Hope you will be able to get yours sooner than later, I know the feeling when waiting for it, it took me 3 years to get my first Omega. cheers mate

Agree, it has very very good time keeping, very accurate. I still have to get mu wife an Omega, so far she is wearing Rado, but I prefer an Omega for her too.

When I checked it after the first month it was within 1-2 sec., so yes, it should be between 12-24 sec. a year max, rather less!

The tradition is one thing, the smooth running second hand the other one. I prefer a sweeping second hand, but quartz does not offer that! The one I am desperately want to get next is the Speedy Pro with Hesalite! cheers

This is really a nice watch, I was already looking into buying a Omega and I decided for rhos exact model after watching your video, I'm wondering how many people decided to buy one after this review. You should get paid by Omega.

Don't worry, I was just teasing you! As I already asked, where do you live (which country)? If it is somewhere in Europe you could check out "Ace", they seem to have reasonable prices!
