Omega Speedmaster - FINAL watch purchase of 2018 - a gift to myself

With the year 2018 ending and me realizing o made over 100 videos which all required a lot of hard work, I decided to treat myself with a childhood dream, an Omega Speedmaster Mark 40, aka Triple Date.
As I am sure many will ask why I didn't go for the Speedmaster Professional I elaborate on that as well.
There are basically 3 reasons:
1. size
2. childhoods dream as this was the first Speedmaster I ever saw in person
3. value as this model offers incredible bang for buck thanks to the popularity of the Moonwatch speedy.

It just arrived before Christmas and in time for the 50 anniversary of the Apollo 8 Christmas greeting. For sport watches, hacking does make more scene, more so a chronograph. It's nice to see the chrono sec hand runs in sync with the sub sec hand for precision. Also, lateral clutch has more wear and tear, and, need to mentioned that the chrono function should not run continuously. In price comparison, the seiko 8R48 has a column wheel vertical clutch, and, the unique 3 pointed hammer and heart-shaped cam ensures the perfect synchronization of the hands flyback function at pin-point. My srq031 which cost less than 3k has Zaratsu finishing, and, it's accurate to 3 spd. The 2mm protruding glass, interestingly, makes the watch looks compact (30mm dial). The fine soft cordovan straps wears so comfortable. I like this better than my daytona. Just stunning

I have one and it’s such a cool watch. My only complaint is that it’s 18mm lugs. I wish they tooled it for 20mm but I’ve found some cool straps with a corner notched ends that flair out to 20mm. I love looking at the watch and it’s complications. This is a ton of watch for the price. 39 mil is the perfect size.

There will be a few follow up videos, the watch is currently at my watchmaker who is refinishing the case. The 24 hour hand can't be used as a GMT, it's just an AM/PM indicator because of the complex calendar function

I got one too few weeks ago. Absoultely beautiful watch. Any info on handwinding and the watch sound?(noticed valjoux 7751 watch wobbles) and i tried to hand wind which was kind of stiff to wind. Is yours making same noise and hard to wind?

Nope, its not perpetual calendar so you have to correct it every other month

My friend, editign videos on it self is not hard work, but PREPARING, RECORDING all the shots, EDITING and finally UPLOADING, creating a title screen, description, tags, cards, and end screen cards does add up ESPECIALLY because I do it after my DAILY JOB, and my daily chores at home with my baby daughter and dogs. So, unlike you I don't come home and sit my ass on the couch with a beer knowing I did my HARD WORK for the day, I get my ass up and work on my KZbin channel. So when you wake up at 5:45 every morning and end up having FREE TIME at 22:00 almost every day for a year, THEN make a comment like this. All the best.
