I can't believe you have to include a pitch to the "large wristed" with the C. blue. I'm not an F.P. cheerleader, but I would buy that watch if it was 36mm. The combination of Tantalum and that dial is beautifu. absolute magic!

So much goodness, one hardly knows where to look! Bonus points for the side by side lume comparison by the way. My favs were the GMT rootbeer, the DB 28, and the Speedy Grey Side, but there were a lot of nice pieces like the ALS Up Down, and the El Preimiero. Hopefully Santa is watching! Thanks Tim.

Tim, As always your knowledge and presentation is spot on. I do have a critique for those pricing the more available pieces. I was intrigued by the Grey Side of the Moon and found several Box & Papers used options in the $7,500 range. PLEASE don’t become a Tourneau for this generation.

The impact Cartier has had on the watch industry is pheonominal ! Think of how that watch looked in 1904 compare it to the way cars clothes houses looked , this thing must have looked like it came from another planet ! Fantastic .
@watchweekender3 жыл бұрын
I'm actually surprised the Cartier isn't as revered as say the Nautilus. Especially with the Santos' Historical and aeronautical heritage.

@@watchweekender Totally agree , for a company for whom watches are just one part of the business they have managed to create an incredible legacy , they were years ahead of other watch brands , most impressive .

A lot of people seem to be mystified by the success of the Blue, after all these white metal/blue dial watches are not exactly an endangered species. But I think it's very simple, almost every detail is identical to the C.S. except one, the power reserve indicator is banished from the dial.

I feel like watchbox is trying to promote smaller brands in order to “manipulate the market” of certain manufacturers like FP Journe & H Moser... while I think WatchBox’s significant investment in marketing & advertising to create a larger demand in the market for these smaller watch companies offers a strategic approach to manipulate a market, whether is justifiable is later to be seen since no one can predict the future

@austin rosin Tim here is on a crusade to reverse that Journe tide. Starting with a solid Debthune offensive and finishing with a Moser coup de gras. He has my full support
@huxleyorwellrand31373 жыл бұрын
Cmon man. Moser over the Journe? The moser is a dime a dozen and priced as such. The Journes hold value. I’m not a resale guy. But it is a way of keeping score.
@roberthiers56063 жыл бұрын
I know Tim is not a Journe fanboy., LOL
@huxleyorwellrand31373 жыл бұрын
@@roberthiers5606 you don’t have to be a fanboy to do math. “Investment” in watches and cars is a fools errand, you need to love what you buy and not “invest”. But if you were going to “invest” then Journe’s prices point to more desirability. Of course you should buy what you want but your wants shouldn’t be based on a personality clash. FP is an jerk to some, let’s say an acquired taste. But it shouldn’t reflect on honest commentary on his product. I like Tim’s insights on most things, but his “fanboy” pushing of Moser is bordering on “push the fish its turning” shit. And that steel bracelet moser is hideous in many different ways. “But it looks good on you”, said Rodney...
@lankysudanese3 жыл бұрын
Journe’s were a dime a dozen as recent as 2015. Hell, I got offered a CB by an FPJ boutique with a small discount, but declined Bc of the no hacking seconds. Demand ebbs and flows. Tim has been doing this long enough to look beyond short-term trends. I trust him
@huxleyorwellrand31373 жыл бұрын
@@lankysudanese that was a lucky strike that you turned down. May I ask which boutique? Not sure Moser has ever been a star at an auction. 2015, if memory serves, was the first astronomique.
@lankysudanese3 жыл бұрын
@@huxleyorwellrand3137 : LA FPJ boutique. Still, no regrets. Resale value doesn’t feature in my decision to purchase and own. It’s a nice watch, but for a fan of chronometry the lack of hacking seconds made it lose its appeal. I ended up getting an AP RO and Rolex Batman, at deep discounts 😝. Oh how times have changed.
