Omega Speedmaster Review + New White Dial Moonwatch Thoughts

Here, I review my latest neo-vintage Omega acquisition. Plus, I offer my thoughts on the new Omega Speedmaster White Dial Moonwatch!

Lovely watch I have the mark 40 from 1998 from new and wore it as my one and only until 2020 when the watch collecting bug caught me ! It’s the only watch I could never sell, too many memories

As mentioned, I am having the same masterpiece with Silver Dial which make the watch look bigger in size.......under the sun is look Super, really Super.

Very nice watch and very nice garden to enjoy your new watch ! Just one thing though and I hate to disappoint you. Pagani Design already made this white dial watch over a year ago and it even comes with a sapphire bezel !. I know, it's kind of ironic that a Chinese company beat Omega to the punch by ripping them off in advance. Seriously though, I have the standard Speedmaster, but I'd still buy that white one. Could even sell mine to help fund the purchase !

Bonjour Cedric! merci beaucoup! Japan is a good place to buy from because in my experience the sellers are trustworthy and honest. Very rare in this world! When the watch arrives at customs, your local tax and duty will be added. Here in NZ tax is 15% plus about another 5% for duty and clearance fees. Merci!

The white Moonwatch will be like the green Seaweed Seamaster. Very hard to get hold of initially, but a year down the line they’ll be available everywhere. What will be interesting is how this release will impact the sales of not just the black dial sapphire sandwich, but also the black dial hesalite. There might be some deals on those once the hype dies down.

Really good point, that the standard Speedy might have some big discounts on now, as if it didn't already. They are always available and on sale at my local AD

That is a beautiful watch with a really nice dial. I was wondering how expensive servicing would be with those complications, but hopefully using the Valjoux will make it more sensible 🤞. I think the in-house craze was misguided, I would much prefer a movement where parts are freely available.

Congratulations on your new watch. I'm totally with you on this era of Omegas. The modern ones are way too thick. That chronograph is a gorgeous watch.

This model is around year 97/99 there’s some models for Michael Schumacher in my opinion much more cool same calibre function’s etc were around 1.800€ at those e years ! That bracelet hunmmm … not sure if it’s for that model anyway congrats though going see the new model 😳

The prices will continue to go up unfortunately. Omega shouldn't be left in the shadows as the official "cheap Rolex alternative". Hopefully they sort out the case thickness problems and the bracelets. If so there's nothing stopping them from charging what they are truly worth. Most of these AD that are doing wild discounts will also be losing their accounts with Omega. Omega will be going boutique only in the next few years.
