I had always wanted a steel pie pan no date constellation, i finally got it (has very heavy patina) and i must say that was easier for me to find a nice datejust than a nice pie pan. I loved your video, thank you!

What about 168.019 calibre 751? I think they were released in 1966 (1967 at latest) and were made well into the '70s. The 751 movement added a day complication to the 564. There were also a number of case designs including an integrated bracelet version (168.045)

Excellent video and explanation. Was the Rolex 15** series movements built in response to Omegas 500 and 550 family movements? I'm guessing watch brands develop and release movements in response to their main competitors technology? Not sure if it's a coincidence,but I believe the 500,550 family and Rolex 15*** movements are 28.5mm diameter.
@TimelessHistoryChannel2 ай бұрын
I agree that watch brands must develop and release movements in response to their main competitors' technology. If this is true, Rolex took it to the next level with its 15## series compared to Omega's 55#/56#, even though the 55#/56# calibres are already ahead of their innovation.

The better watch is the one you feel a connection too, be it the Rolex or Omega. Rolex make good watches but I could never own one as they just feel cold and sterile to me, as if designed by an accountant rather than someone with a passion for watches.

I thought swan neck regulator is a big plus on Omega to get more precission and better keeping that precission in case of the shok
@TimelessHistoryChannel3 жыл бұрын
accuracy is one thing, durability is one thing. Swan neck regulator makes regulating easier and more precise.
@brunonjezic62083 жыл бұрын
@@TimelessHistoryChannel oh so it doesnt influence keeping the accuracy if watch gets strong bump at all? I thought it is also holding the tuning point of regulator with a screw and pressure of the spring as oposit rather than having only friction fit. Thanks for a note
@TimelessHistoryChannel3 жыл бұрын
Oops, sorry I didn't see this until now. Well, you're correct as well. With the screw and pressure from the swan neck, the pointer will not shift. But then a proper fitted non-swan neck regulator will not shift either from a strong bump though. I find that the only benefit on a swan neck is the screw which allow you to slowly regulate/shift the pointer.

@@TimelessHistoryChannel What is the book you referenced in the video?
@erth2man2 жыл бұрын
The Omega movements in the 70s probably took a reduction is quality due to the tuning fork/quartz movement revolution. Of course this effected the entire luxury watch industry greatly and I suspect that Omega was still trying to offer a competitively price product. Rolex likely decided to use a different marketing strategy. This of course is only my suspicion based on what I observed. Please feel free to add or correct with any thoughts you might have.

For sure. Rolex did come out with their Oyster Quartz line as well. But was short lived and now are probably the most collectible vintage quartz watches.

Why pretend the cal.751 and 752 Omega Constellations never existed?
@TimelessHistoryChannel2 жыл бұрын
What do you mean? 751 is a day date equivalent of a 564 with just date or 551 without date. So they are in the same category. So no one is pretending it doesn’t exist. Also, caliber 752 is not a chronometer movement. Any constellation watch using a caliber 752 is a made up piece.
