Mike Forti Right there with you on that one....
@gdsmith42469 жыл бұрын
Mike Forti Indeed, I heard the ... pushing in her voice long ago. Now it's just so unforced and natural. She's like a combination of Bonnie Raitt and Aretha, just lots of effortless power and soul in her voice. And you're also right about her guitar abilities. She used to be a great singer/good rhythm player who did some nice lead (just like the wonderful Boz Scaggs, for instance). Now she's an even greater singer, and she can straight up kick ass at blues lead when she's really feeling it. She still makes a few mistakes live but her fire and enthusiasm are so wonderful that only a guitarist would notice. And Derek ... I mean, what can you say about that guy? Any man that can overshadow the brilliant Warren-freaking-Haynes on guitar while in the Allman Bros. is pretty much superhuman. Derek trucks is basically a superhero whose superpower is blues slide guitar. When all is said and done, Derek, Duane and Sonny Landreth may be the top three greatest slide guitar players the human race has ever produced.

@@larrypower8659 Derek and Joe are on the same level in my opinion. Beth gets a little better rating from me, because of the depth of her music and her multi-instrumentalist and song writing abilities. Beth's music is very personal and truly the blues, because she has lived it. She comes from a place that few of us know. Anyway, when it comes to these artists, we're splitting hairs. Let's just agree that we're so lucky to have all of them as an oasis in the music desert we live in these days.
@larrypower86594 жыл бұрын
No problem. I’ve seen T&T, Joe, and Joe/Beth. We like who we like, and that’s one of the many beauties of music and art. Fortunately for us, there’s a lot of greatness to choose from. All of these artists are way above my humble pay grade, that’s for sure. As a lifelong professional musician and guitar player, I’m in awe of any artist who reaches the heights they have without losing their heart to the business. None of the people we’re discussing have lost one bit of their heart, an admirable trait in today’s “music desert,” as you so aptly described it. There is plenty of quality music; you just gotta search for it. As long as we have live music and The Blues to fill our collective Soul, we’ll get by.
@audiophileman70474 жыл бұрын
@@larrypower8659 That's it, the blues. It's all about the music to these artists. It helps that they aren't involved in main stream music in the same way a classical music artist isn't. Sadly, it won't be safe to go to live shows as we've known them in the past until new treatments and a vaccine is developed for this damn plague. In the end, it's all about these "hard time killin' floor blues." Do you know of a band called Larkin Poe? They do a great version of the Skip James classic.👍🎸😎

I thought that was weird, so i turned around to look back at the crowd behind me to find out that my eyes weren't the only ones that had gone moist. It was that moving. And now i've watched this video, and this time I found myself tearing up on Susan's rough yet searing solo--especially when she peaks at the end of it and goes back to the mic to sing the next verse with the emotion and power reminiscent of all the legendary blues men and women who came before her. I don't know about the rest of you but I'm thinking the Tedeschi Trucks Band may be the rightful heir to the greatest bands from the 70s, ABB et al. The best of America, 2019.

These two were made for Music and each other. See them once live and your a southern blues guy or Gal for the rest of your life. enjoy. They play every note like they want too.. or better yet because they just HAVE TOO.

Best song on you tube. I listen to this every evening drinking a cold one since I discovered it last month. What rock music means to me.

When it leaves you with an ache in your heart, a tear in your eye, and sends a shiver down your spine-- that's blues !!

Just watched it for the third time. I am now totally convinced they are both brilliant, in their own right. Fabulous performance!

So cool to see Susan bring out her guitar chops as well as her amazing vocals. Solid complete musical package. 🎵🎸🎤 And Derek's big smile of appreciation. 😍

The blues is a pouring out of sadness,pain and misery.The artists interpretation is all their own,to say one version is better or worse than another is a travisty.its all about the feeling expressed through music. It tells a personal experience in some cases.but in all cases..most people can relate based on their own lives.i don't know of anyone who hasn't experience the"blues" especially myself..so any artists that can perform like this we owe a debt of gratitude and utmost respect..
