Do NOT buy gaming laptops right now. They simply ship with insufficient VRAM amounts for the near and far future, the 4070 with just 8 GB is particularly troublesome. Also unlike most channels they're not always begging for likes or subs, hardly ever have ads baked into the videos, and when they do include ads (eg. in their longer GOTY videos) they are pretty brief. POWER. It's a thing. I'm constantly on international 10 hour flights and my MSI 3080 laptop performs exactly like a 4070. Here's the difference... the 3080 draws 280 watts! If you dont know, those airplane outlets are only rated at 115 watts and shut off (although my previous 1080 max-q got away with 140 watts) This means I get a slide show (battery GPU profile) for 20 minutes. Then dead. A laptop that runs better than a ps5 (maybe even ps5pro) and on an airplane is pretty enticing. As others have meantioned, this is a sposored video, so the negatives are missing. That being said, you can read between the lines. Lots of tweaking to make new stuff play right. No compromises with 5 year old games. I think comparisons to higher draw laptops would be helpful. Thanks to other commenters for mentioning the Lenovo slim option. One last thought... why not provide scaleable power bricks and a 140w mode for all laptops? Not enough people asking for it? Ive been looking at an ROG or steam deck, but this has got my attention. Perhaps a 5070 version next year will finally get me to bite. I like the idea of an optional higher power brick, but I think the problem with that would ultimately be cooling. Letting a 4070 go to full power for extended periods in a laptop about as thick as three beer mats stacked on top of each other would likely overwhelm any cooling solution pretty quickly, especially considering how tightly packed in any fans would be. Personally, I think the answer is to just abandon the slim-n-lite form factor altogether in favour of better cooling and repairability, but I have to admit there are legions of people who actually do want a form factor this thin, and who benefit from it.

To be very honest... 1 hour battery life is a bit rediculous.. i know its for gaming and all.. but especially in these days where games get longer and longer.. I dont game on the go so i dont have that problem. I use my MBair M2 for anything really except gaming and its gold. Battery dont last for ever thats a given, but they last a couple of hours even when using After Affects or tons of applications at once and so on.

@@Wobbothe3rd I mean yeah.. of course... but i just love the fact that i can take my MBAir into any kind of cafe and do what ever i would like to do for a few hours without thinking about it. I get what you are saying though.
@crestofhonor23496 ай бұрын
Gaming on battery and getting 1 hour isn't all that surprising. You get higher power draw when gaming. Under normal loads it'll last much longer. Plus you can always limit performance to make it last longer like using the iGPU instead of the dGPU on battery
@Wobbothe3rd6 ай бұрын
@@sehrscheeyou can't really game on MBair though right? At least not unplugged, to the extent you can at all. Also, not all PC Games are as demanding as the ones shown in this video.

On my Legion Slim, I can squeeze 3-4 hours with lighter games (such as L4D2 and Slime Rancher) with reduced settings, using the Radeon 760M iGPU, and capping the frame rate to 30 fps. There aren’t a lot of opportunities to break out the dGPU on battery for gaming, though I have shared some Stray gameplay with someone who was astonished games like that exist. For productivity though, my dGPU still puts in work on battery. In bursty loads, such as Blender, I still get very quick Cycles performance on battery, and to preview shader changes, generally only takes a few seconds to hit my sample cap, so the battery drains pretty slowly. I wouldn’t do a final render on battery, but for actually working on projects, it’s pretty awesome.

I love my ASUS G14 2024, but it has the AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS, 16GB RAM, 1 TB Hard Drive and the GTX 4060 GPU. I paid for the G14, after taxes, $1,711. The HP OMEN is on sale now and it has the Intel Ultra 9, 32GB RAM, 2TB Hard Drive, and a GTX 4070. The HP OMEN is on sale for $1,911 after taxes on HP’s website. I like to game but not much. I love the speakers on the G14. I use my laptop more for work productivity, light gaming through STEAM and I desire better battery life for video streaming and web surfing. I almost considered the new Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite laptop from Samsung, but I am afraid of Windows app compatibility with ARM processors. I am also afraid that STEAM will not work on a Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite. Should I pay the $200 more for the HP OMEN because of the 32GB RAM, 2TB Hard drive and GTX 4070 GPU? I see that the speakers as well as the Front Facing Camera are horrible on the HP OMEN. Should I switch to the HP OMEN because of the upgraded specs and lower price?
