Very cool choice for a theme. Clearly Aerith responding to Cloud after him speaking to her in "Hollow". Even repeats the line about never letting go. But even has her unsure about when/wherre they'll meet again, leaving "that" scene up for grabs. How much you want to bet the third game's theme is a duet?

Original timeline spoilers: it looks like you meet a clean shaven, optimistic Cid in Junon now. Feels like by the time we see him again in Rocket Town he’s grizzled, sweary and chain smoking after losing the space program.

Also just from my theory I think from the main characters we know Tifa and everyone are dead in Zack’s timeline except for him, Cloud, Biggs and Aerith.

Same, it was confirmed from a wanted poster in the scene between Zack and that npc, perfectly following up with the beginning of the first or second trailer where Tifa and the gang died on a medical bed as far as I can remember. It can also happen to Jessie's revival in Cloud's timeline similar to how Biggs got revived in Zack's timeline parallel to Cloud's timeline near the end of Remake.

I don't think that Jessie is alive in Cloud's timeline. What we are seeing in Gold Saucer is a VR about her performance when she was working in that play... and it's going to be heartbreaking.

As the other poster said, the Whispers would likely be trying to make sure the scene goes as it's supposed to. However, _Sephiroth_ is trying the exact opposite, while _Aerith_ is (or was) trying to preserve the timeline. And Sephiroth knows that if she dies there, Fate gets put back on track, and he loses. Meaning (my favorite theory I've seen so far) Aerith might be intending to die there, and Sephiroth might be intervening to save her.

One thing is for sure, this is definitely not the OG FF7, it has to be a sequel of some kind, it's own little slice of the FF7 world that we all love, but like other Final Fantasy games, this one is it's own story.

I have a theory. With Marlene telling Zack that if Aerith wakes up, she dies... I think that in this timeline Zack will be there and take her place. My theory is that Sephiroth knows everything already, Remake made that somewhat clear that he knows whats going to happen, and if Aerith dies, he will lose in the end because of that. So I think he will kill Zack instead and she will live, meaning the endgame is left uncertain. Thats my thoughts anyway. I am really looking forward to finding out.

When this came on, I literally turned away... I don't want anymore footage of FF7: Rebirth or anything than can possibly be spoilers. I'm already sold, it's my most anticipated game by far... I will say this though, to me FF7 is all about team Tifa vs team Aerith, and from the glimpses I saw of this, it looked like it featured a lot of Aerith. So team Aerith people were probably excited by this.

well you've got to remember that to make Marlene trust her Aerith put her hand on Marlene's head and it apparently did more than just calm her down in the face of Sector 7's destruction it was a transfer of knowledge since it seems Aerith knows everything that's going on and what's going to happen. and in Marlene's point of view Sephiroth would easily qualify as a scary man.

The devs have said time and again that they are not changing the story of the main characters and plot and it will all eventually all tie in to Advent Children. I honestly think there are no timelines, just the real world with Cloud and team v Lifestream. Have to say though that Cloud is so hot in this game - I love him

Aerith Dying is such a pivotal point it will likely happen, and we will all sit in silence for a while before continuing :( however the two worlds are merging by the looks of it so I think the Aerith that's fell in love with cloud will die but the one that hasn't and likely loves Zack will merge into being so We get Aerith but Cloud loses her still

@@daeith1233 my theory is that aerith would have to die in order for the lifestream to block the meteor (assuming if it happens again). as for zack, based on the previous comment, hes the string to all these alternate timeline from the remake. and my wild theory is that a sacrificed zack, cloud and maybe sephiroth will have to defeat this new entity in the 3rd game that will create a new (hopefully happy) ending.

If we don't overthink it the phantom dudes appear on "death" scenes that don't end up real, or the person at hand doesn't die. Yet, for those who understand FF7 OG, Aerith's death is necessary and crucial for the story. If they spare her either everything goes to hell or someone else dies in order to keep the timeline from breaking that much. Someone of equal or more emotional value.....tifa?

But this is a different story, so she doesn't have to die. And this time Sephiroth knows the significance, so - weird as it sounds - even he could intervene and stop the prior version of himself (he didn't have the black feathers in the OG, but in AC). Gone ignored for the most part, but this could for example, be about far more than just meteor all over again. And based on the novellas prior to AC, if anyone has to die, it's Cloud. What a twist that would be...she lives, he dies this time.

I know people want Aerith to live I get it but she’s too important to the overall arc which is her saving the planet along with everyone else in the lifestream.

And according to Kitase in a 2005 interview with EGM humanity has been destroyed in the 500 years later epilogue. So why does she have to die to repeat a pyrrhic victory?
